Bryan Shelton is likely one of the most well known individuals in
the consumer world of hair loss research hobbyists. His crush on
Angela Christiano, and extensive personal research in the world
of hair loss science has enabled him to provide volumes of scientifically
based advice to the lesser educated consumer. This same hobby has
enabled him to debate the hottest topics with the most skeptical
opponents.
Many have been thankful for the extensive amount of personal time
he has put into doing what he can to help those in need, including
the founder of HairlossTalk, who received invaluable help on his
own hair loss from Bryan, long before HairlossTalk.com even existed.
For well over 5 years Bryan Shelton has been a member of the consumer
forums across several web sites, and has written helpful articles
for this site on the potential of the "unproven" treatment
realm and the potential efficacy of certain very scientifically
based products in the treatment of hair loss. Until now however,
nobody has ever laid eyes on Bryan. We are happy to be the first
to host his personal hair loss photos on our site.

What's the Big Deal about these Pics? |

Though the photos themselves may not look significant, there is
one very significant factor about Bryan's treatment regimen. At
the time the photos were taken, it included no Propecia and no Rogaine.
It was a completely "unproven" treatment regimen, using
only products that Bryan felt had the potential to help, and no
FDA approved or clinically proven treatments. |

Bryan:
"I wouldn't say its a crush necessarily. Maybe just a very
healthy appreciation for her :)"

These pictures show the results of the very earliest phase of my
interest in hairloss, when I was using nothing but Dr. Proctor's
non-prescription Proxiphen-N and NANO Shampoo.
As you can see by the dates, it covers a period of almost
exactly two years to the day. I want everyone to be absolutely
clear about this, so I'll emphasize again: during that period
I never used a single molecule of finasteride (I *still* have
never used finasteride), I never used any minoxidil at all, no
spiro, no fatty acids, no 11a-OHP, no green tea, no phenytoin,
no Retin-A, no azelaic acid, none of the things that I've experimented
with AFTER that period. So what did I use? Absolutely nothing
but over-the-counter, non-prescription Proxiphen-N (usually twice
a day) and NANO Shampoo (only about once a week).

Maintaining with Proxiphen-N |

I've never claimed to be an outstanding responder to anything,
just an "average" or "typical" one. That's why I've
never bothered to post these pictures before: I know people like to
see dramatic examples of regrowth, but I can't provide that. I'm just
an ordinary guy! However, I think you can see that Prox-N certainly
helped me maintain what I had over a rather extended period of two years...in
fact, you can see that I did a little BETTER than maintain. My baldspot
is slightly smaller in the "after" picture, and you can see
that in the "before" picture, there was a lot of lightly-colored
(vellus?) hair around the perimeter of my baldspot. Two years later,
those light streaks were gone!

In my humble opinion, my results seem to support what Dr. Proctor
has always said about what should be expected from medical treatment:
fine, thin hair should thicken up with perhaps a little regrowth of
some recent loss, but don't expect a lot of regrowth in pretty "slick"
areas like my baldspot, unless you're an unusual responder.
