Post Minoxidil Shed . Please Help!!

ok first of all .
i'm from egypt which is an african and arabian country so . sorry for my english
egyptian people rarly have male pattern baldness

but me ? i had this sh*t

my hair loss started whan i was 16 years old
on june 2013 i had a pretty thick hair . i started to masturbate and going to gym to be fit
2 months later i did a hair cut . my hairstyler told me that my hair is soooooooooooooo thin
only in just 2 months!!
i thought that is because of masturbation
i forget about my hair
but 2 years later in 2015
i went to faculty
which is faculty of medicine
i noticed that my hair is still thin . all out the scalp (( ecxept in the donor area ))
but i could style it and made it dry
my scalp was visible only when my hair was wet..
my hair was good with no receding hairline only diffuse thining which wasn't so much or noticable
but i was afraid that i would be BALD!!
at the end of 2015 i decided i should start minoxidl to MAINTAIN my hair
i didn't know then anything about propecia or how minoxidil work
3 month later in feb 2016 my hair was fantastic it helped me but not very much! . and i stop thinknig about my hair anymore
i was doing alot of styles! i was really happy .
i was about to tell the girl whom i love about my love!
BUT!
in may 2016 i started shedding alot
even i'm on minoxidl twice aday!! i read later that was called 2nd minoxidl shed
on those day i had hypotension and dryness eye and an itchy scalp
i read ALOT OF HORRIBLE STORIES ABOUT minoxidl
so i decided to stop and went naturally until i can afford a hair transplant after only 4 years
my brother is norwood 3 since 6 years!!
he started loosing hair at 20 years old
so male pattern baldness in our family is not fast! Hair transplant may help me
that what i told myself
at may (( my Crush put me in friendzoon in same month ))
i decided to stop mino COLD TURKEY and 2nd minoxidl shed continuo for one month

4 months later i had EXTREME SHED like 200 hairs daily
now i'm about 6 months OFF Minoxidl
the shed stopped
i'm lossing only 20 hairs a day (( 2-4 hairs when i Rubbed my hair for 10 second ))

BUT!!
my hair is sooooooooo thin
i'm about 20% of pre minoxidl
and about 15% of when i was on minoxidil!!!!

will my hair eveeeeer return to BASELINE ??
i am now sooooo sad that i can't even do anything
i think every day on my dark baldy future
i just want to keep my hair till i can do hair transplant after 4 years

i'm only 19 years old
please tell me when my hair will back??

NOTE : Propecia is not avalible in egy or even saw palmetto
and doctors here hate this stuff!!

Note 2 : i shed some tears on writing this as i remember a good 3 months i lived

Is there no way to source finasteride in Egypt? Even with a transplant finasteride is highly advised if you want to keep your hair.


If you go back on minoxidil you will likely get back whatever gains it gave you. But whatever you do don't start using it again and then stop again.


Use nizoral shampoo also.

I'm no expert on hair transplants but I believe you can lose transplanted hair. Look up Wayne Rooneys hair. He got a great transplant but lost most of it by now unfortunately.

I dont understand why did you begin with minoxidil in the first place.

OK to motivate you I used minoxidil Foam and Liquid 2 years and stopped it nothing happened (no shedding), that means stopping minoxidil doesnt automatically mean shedding,

If you have money you can buy finasteride (from other Countries) and take maybe 0.5 mg a day or even less and two days off (7 days 5mg), or you can take topically.
And check your Thyroid.

I would suggest strongly you talk to a lot of the very experienced posters on this forum about the minoxidil second shed.

I think getting a second shed does not mean you should 'stop'.

i think you push through it.

I am not sure but i think getting off the minoxidil may have been a mistake because you seem to have been a great responder to it.

Try and navigate the site a bit and look at some minoxidil stories.

Will my hair grow back to what it was before taking any treatment?
The shed stopped but my hair is sh*t!!

Why did I use minoxidil in the 1st place ??
Because doctors are sucks.
They don`t know anything about hair

My doctor hadn`t even look at my hair
I told her that I had a little thin hair and iam ok with that but afraid from the future

She asked me to use PERFORMA (( the egyptian minoxidil trade )) 2ml a day

I knew about propecia , RU , nizoral , bioten , alpecin ... etc just from this site

Propecia is ignored here from doctors . they will never ask anyone to buy it
They belive that it cause impotence

So somehow it is not avalible unless in big pharmacies . and it will be imported treatment which is very expinsive!!!

I hope my hair back and I can go naturally without chemical treatments till the date of the hairtransplant

No. male pattern baldness gets progressively worse without treatment. You hair will level off to about where it would have been if you had never treated it.

Caffeine has almost no evidence it does anything.

Without minoxodil--whihc you should NOT have stopped in my opinion and opinion of many others--your hair will not grow back.

SO no..

If you want your hair to grow back i would restart minoxodil--even then no guarantees.

If I look at the pictures, I see that you didn't had any balding spots before minoxidil, maybe only hair loss.
The real question is, did you have regrowth with minoxidil., If yes then you should continue it like hairblues wrote, if No then you should wait, because these spots will grow (Maybe) also without minoxidil, and you will have the same situation as before minoxidil.

New update .
I made this photos 2day . After like 7 months off minoxidil
Shedding stopped nearly
I see like 2 hairs in my bed . And like 5 hairs in the shower .
My hair is still sh*t!!! Myhairline is destroyed for the first time in my life
I can say iam norwood 1 now
After being alwayse norwood zero hhh

Despite that iam sure I have male pattern baldness .. the diffuse thining type

Ok can you guys see any improvement ?

Also I have question .
When I rub my hair with my finger for 19 seconds . How much hair should I get in my hand or in my table? Sometime zero . Sometimes 2 or 3
Sometimes more!!!

My plan is to wait untill febreuary. If there is no improvment . I will sadly restart minoxidil.

1. Yes I see improvement.
2. That much hair is normal.
3. It's a good idea to wait, but I wouldn't suggest you to begin with minoxidil again, because you don't need so much regrowth and you want to maintain the status. If you can't find finasteride (or too expensive), you can try Ket shampoo (I myself didn't use it).

I would give it two more months as you say. You lost a lot of hair, it takes time for your body to adjust. I have stopped minoxidil, and Ive tried different treatments after several months it always goes back to baseline.

I would just wait two more months and see, there is definite improvement.

i have the same problem. 3 months after quitting minoxidil the hair loss is heavily.

before that my hair wasnt even receding. i took it too boost my beard... now i just can hope that i will get better. That was the dumbest decision in my life. My hair was perfect. Now it's sh*t. Just because I wanted that full beard. If I have waited 5 more years I would have get that full beard naturally...

Don't use minoxidil if you have good hair or just abit receding hair. I 've made that mistake.
