How much DHT does this block?

To take this dose.. is it better to take 0.25mg every 2 days.. or 0.5mg every 4 days.. or even 1mg every 8 days

There are many publications on this that would infer the dose is too low. The lowest ive seen with significant effect is 0.2mg/day. My guess is that uve put the decimal point in the wrong place and you are talking about splitting a 5mg tab in 4 to get 1.25mg NOT 0.125mg.

Just as interest, how were you going to get such small doses? Splitting a 5mg tab into 40 pieces may be a challenge!

Anyway, most scientific studies assume 1 per day although many people who take dutasteride have gaps between days because splitting dutasteride is not as pratcical splitting finasteride. This isn't usually considered a problem because dutasteride has a long half life compared to finasteride.

I'm thinking of splitting a 1mg pill in two to take 0.5mg a day since my hairloss is fairly mild at the temples.

I figured the benefits are

+Obviously pills last longer so cheaper
+Less shedding?
+Less other side affects?
+Still has a similar effect (Even if not that of a 1mg pill).

-Obviously not quite as effective as a 1mg pill.


Seems like good logic in my head, but does anyone have any comments/warnings/done it themselves before I go ahead? (Probably in 3-4 weeks).

just take the proper dose first and cross the bridge of sides if you come to it would be my advice.

i wouldnt go any lower than 0.5mg though if youre set on it.

It seems clear that doses as low as about 0.04 mg/day would work (although obviously not as effectively as larger doses), since that's apparently at or near the threshold dosage which can significantly lower serum DHT with daily use. See the following set of graphs from a medical journal study:

Omg finally someone on my side! I swear my entire family uses those 2 words improperly all the time. For a while I corrected them, but now I just mourn a little inside each time.

No offense to the poster calling himself "dutasteride", but what annoys me about people who say "infer" instead of "imply" in such a context is that (presumably) they think it sounds so sophisticated. But those words have clearly defined and separate meanings, and shouldn't be confused with each other: the SPEAKER implies, the LISTENER infers.

sure it will work, but not 12% of 1mg, but 50+% of 1mg. Studies have suggested that DHT inhibition at 0.2 mg is about 80 % the level of 1 mg pill.

Although I can't remember where, I've read something similar. I'm on .25mg every day. It's a bit of a challenge splitting a 1mg pill four ways.

ohh!! splitting into 4 is the only solution? i still not started it because im waiting if my hairs grow back (diffuse sudden hairloss). but i also searched something about dosage frequency. whether its good to have 0.1 + 0.1 morning and night instead 0.2, etc. then i came across a post that said they have found very similar effect between daily 1mg dosage and day after another day 1mg dosage. this could decrease side effects. But i'm not sure if it works for 0.25mg day after another day. People with their own lab can find it by testing their blood daily

There are studies on this. According to them, taking finasteride more than once a day does not improve results. Also, there was almost no difference between the placebo group and people taking 0.125 per day.
