Hey guys:
I found this recent paper, not sure if it is posted before. It says that the 15-deoxy prostaglandin J2, the nonenzymatic metabolite of prostaglandin D2, actually induce the follicle cell apoptosis and cause hair loss instead of PGD2 itself. What do you guys think about it?
Thanks for sharing this article. Very interesting.
I've quickly read most of the original article.
It confirms earlier findings on the inhibitory effect of 15-dPGJ2. And also confirms earlier findings on the inhibitory effect of PGD2.
I don't read your statement in the article that PGD2 does not have an inhibitory impact itself, it's more complicated though. This research finds that PGD2 has a growth stimulating effect on certain type of cells, namely outer root sheath and dermal papilla cells. The reason for the inhibitory effect seems to be the DP2 expression in these type of cells.
So back to a more practical approach: this article confirms DP2 antagonists like Setipiprant.
