16 and taking Fincar

I am a 16 year old male who has been going through hair loss since 15. about 4 months ago i tried Provillus for 2 months, but as i was taking the Provillus i found out through these forums that it does not work so i stopped taking Provillus.

Then a month later i went up into my dads bedroom and found his Fincar, to my suprise he had almost a 2 year supply. I asked my dad if i could buy a year supply so he said ok, it was only something like £30.

I have now been taking Fincar (Finasteride) for almost a month. So far i have seen ZERO side effects and ZERO maintenance/regrowth. I am fully aware that results take time and that i should wait. My main concern was that i have had literally no side affects whatsoever. I thought that at a young age of 16 then i would have got side affects straight away, who knows?!?!? This made me think whether or not the Fincar is legit. I asked my dad about it and he said that he bought it from inhouse pharmacies, which has a good track record.

Just wondered what you guys thought??????????

I think no one on this forum will recommend that a 16 year old take finasteride and you should talk to a physician before continuing...I'll leave it at that.

Yeah, i wouldn't reccomend taking it at such a young age... Start using Revivogen/minoxidil, but not Propecia. Really, don't!

I have been taking Fincar for a month with completely no side effects so would it be safe to say it is 75% sure that i wont get side effects???!?!?!?!?!?

Just wait for your 18. Your hairloss can't get that bad by that time. Atleast it's all correct, when you start at that age. I have the same strategy: only Nizoral and Regaine for now.

Apparently I'm less alarmed than other posters here by the idea of a 16 year-old using finasteride. My general feeling is that if you're old enough to have true male pattern baldness, you're probably old enough to be using that drug. One concern I do have, though, is whether the original poster really _does_ have male pattern baldness, or whether he has thinning hair due to some other condition.

if your hair is thinning already at 16 i don't think its a problem to start finasteride. because without finasteride time your in college you will be a nw3. Just because people throw out a number 18 doesnt mean that age is for every1 some people finish puberty at 13 some at 21, every1 is different.

huh? no one is replyin to solomonf's question. Anyone here who has been on fincar or finpecia and had significant regrowth? . I am 1 month in on finpecia and it has made no difference. Hair is shedding like before and no signs of regrowth...

No side effects doesn't mean it's not working. It's different for everyone. Some get side effects and still lose hair. Some keep their hair with no side effects. One month is way to early to tell whether you'll get regrowth or not. But don't expect a lot of regrowth in the long run, either. Most people only get minor regrowth, and many people only maintain what they have. It seems to be harder to regrow on the hairline than the crown. Try to be happy with maintaining, and consider any regrowth a bonus.

What will happen at 18

See a physician first

You get at the legal age and you will be more grown-up by then, that it's safer.

There is no "legal age" for finasteride

No need to bite Bubka.

But yea, a doctor will recommend it to someone below 18. My Doctor looked finasteride up in his medical dictionary and kinda shrugged said it was up to me. I was just about 17 at the time.

Anyway, there is no age, where suddenly finasteride is guaranteed to be "safe: as you put it amarant. But it is "safer" Most people are done their developing stages by then. However everyones different, to be really safe some people would have to wait until their early 20's.
