Hello everyone, my name is Ursula and I just turned 18 years old recently. For the past 3-4 weeks I have been losing a lot of hair, especially when I wash it. These past few weeks my hair has been very thin, to the point where my small ears tend to stick out farther than my hair. Some of the hair loss has been from shedding and some of the hair that falls out still has the bulb on the tip. My hair has always been my best feature, it's something I would receive daily compliments for. Now I have been avoiding mirrors and going out because every time I see my hair I just break down and cry. People notice my hair loss and just tell me "it's not that bad, it will grow back eventually." I am hoping to setup an appointment with the dermatologist to get a biopsy and see what the problem is. For the past 4 days I have been taking Biotin, B12, and E Vitamins, eating more protein and iron, drinking 2-3 bottles of water daily, massaging my head for circulation, using rogaine, deep conditioning, and avoiding combing my hair. I haven't seen any results, but it has only been a few days. I can't seem to pinpoint an exact reason why my hair is falling out, but these are factors i keep in mind..

  • I am 125 pounds and 5'6. I workout daily but I have been eating mostly junk food
  • I have been stressed lately, but I have struggled with anxiety and depression for 7 years and have never experienced hair loss
  • I am on my period but I have been feeling menstrual cramps for the past month and my breasts have started to develop
  • I have used Got2B hair mousse for 2 years but stopped using it a month ago
  • 4 months ago I was put under anesthesia for an endoscopy
  • My mom, my neighbor (around my age) and her mom have also been experiencing hair thinning and hair loss for the past month

I am so depressed. I just want my healthy hair back to normal. Any general thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated.

If it isn't male pattern baldness, it will grow back in a matter of time. If it is male pattern baldness, which you'll find out after you talk to the derma, it won't grow back. If that is the case, get on treatments as soon as possible. Don't put them off for long; you'll regret it in the long run.

Could be Telogen Effluvium. If so it will only last a couple months. You just have to let it run its course It will grow back if its Telogen Effluvium . My derm originally thought this was the cause of my hairloss. Google the symptoms. Sounds alot like it. Hang in there hunny. Xoxo
