Hi all,
I am a 47 year old man, had think hair since I was 25 and more or less bald (I think you would say Norwood 7) the last 10 years.

I added this since very few older men like me has posted how they succeed (at least when I searched)

I have been a member here for 10 years, thinking of doing something, but at the end never bothered.

I finally got myself together and bought 2 bottles of minoxidil 10% on eBay, I didn't read up before and had one single thought ”stronger must be better ” I have no clue if that's true :)

I have been adding the solution with a spray every single morning and evening , not missing one day.

I had a dizziness the first 15-20 days, not bad, but I could feel it and I felt weaker in general , but it passed and now I feel nothing.

So far:
My hair feels thicker on the sides, although I didn't spray anything there.

I added pictures from 10 of February, 10th of March and today .

I think I have new hair coming in the crown area, and a little on the front (no picture, I lack a before picture so won't really say anything.

I will try to update every month on the 10th,

I think your crown will fill in nice. You could pick up a .5mm derma roller or stamp. Lots of green tea. Good luck!

Thanks, i will try the dermaroller!

I have also nread that i should use finasteride!

I found a 5% minoxidil with a Finasteride topical solution mixed into it, apparently it is to be used once a day, so i will start using it every morning and then the 10% minoxidil every night to see if it gives further boost.

Adding Finasteride will help make your Minoxidil gains permanent.

If you add dermarolling, I would start at a low needle length and work your way
up.

I use one millimeter, and I stopped at that length because sometimes it
makes my scalp bleed.

I am the same age as you. I really don't think guys our age heal as fast as younger
guys do, unless your able to sleep through the night for eight hours each night.

I think that although there is cases where drugs don't work, in general it's helping the majority of the users but as always , nothing is guaranteed.

It's like my hayfever, not all drugs works..

It's a funny thing. Most pro athletes are in their primes in their early 20s, some late 20s. A few very talented ones like Lebron James are still great into their thirties. Very very few are great into their late 30s. By the early 40s, virtually all are retired, but there can be an extremely rare one like Ichiro Suzuki, an all-time great, who has so much natural ability and game smarts that he can continue playing into his early 40s, albeit at a much much lower level. But that's exceedingly rare.

And when you get to the mid and late 40s it's done, everyone's retired. When you get to this age you see why.

That said I am in my mid 40s but have never been a pro athlete, or even really exercised. Am hoping that if I start I can therefore go back in time to my 30s... fit 40s or 50s = not quite fit 30s? :D

As for the topic of the thread, congrats. I've long maintained here that minoxidil may be very effective for older guys who are balding, but at a significantly slower rate than younger guys with aggressive balding. I think that may be true in your case.

I actually shed all the hair I regained on my crown with minoxidil even though I was on finasteride and was still applying minoxidil so what you said may not be the case for everyone.
Same. Lots of Loniten users report of needing to up the dose over time because the efficacy decreases. I think the same is true for topical minoxidil. Very possible it stops being effective over time no matter what in all/many people.

Has your hair darkened or is it just the lighting?

These days I'm taking everything, good or bad. I've added Finasteride, Progesterone even (2%, embarassing, I know), and even Bimaprost, and Esterodoil (topical only).

So, yes, I guess you can say I finally beat hair loss? But at what cost? I don't know.

My hair never falls out. In fact, some of it is even growing back in.

On top of that, 15% Minoxidil. It's insane, that's for sure.

It's not embarrassing. What is embarrassing (or should be) is a person complaining nonstop about balding and not doing anything about it, or giving up. All I see in your post is Win. You're a man of action.

Not sure, the Photos is taken in the same place with the same light, however the first is taken in a different angle , and I live in Spain so I do get darker skin in March and April .

How long did minoxidil work for you? Did you lose after beginning finasteride?

5 months has past, 4 on minoxidil only and the last month has been on 10% minoxidil including 0,1% finasteride.

although I noticed progress in the beginning, it feels like I not gained anymore the last month, maybe even lost some of the previous gains. might be if I got a second shedding due to the finasteride (I can't tell).

I have not had any side effect due to the finasteride as of yet, and will keep up the regime.

Looking your photos, I have exact the same pattern stage advance baldness. in 2014 I started taking finasteride and RU58841. 5% minoxidil is too weak on me. So i tried 15% and it was affective but expensive. Ebay currently has more than 5% and I have seen good result. Combining these three, what was bald before now I have hair growing. Not perfect growth like when I was younger but, acceptable.

I am really happy for you, i think i am in a second shedding and hope gains will bounce back in 1-2 months time. I have looked at RU58841 but not sure on how to apply it with my current regime ( topical Finasteride and Minoxidil) do they sell readymixed RU58841 like minoxidil, and is there any issues mixing three topical products?

Buddy, I’m on your regimen, except I’m in dutasteride every other day. I can’t remme the last time I had a hair in my hands, but I still have the itch to some degree. Are you taking dutasteride too?

Hi where do you get your topical finasteride and topical progesterone? Is it all mixed in the minoxidil?
