i came to the thoughts that there's 2 things that mess up guys losing their hair nowadays:
1-prevalence of CANCER, so if you are losing your hair you are considered "sick" or "weak". shoot, cancer only came up like 100 years ago, just around the time nuclear weapons were invented.
discuss

I'm confused about the point you're trying to make in this sentence.

Also, why do you believe that "cancer only came up like 100 years ago"?

Cancer has been observed in humans for thousands of years.

Being bald is perceived as negative mainly due too the fact that humans are supposed too have hair on their head. When its not there it confuses people, thats when the ridicule starts.
Yes the media purpetuate things. For example there has been in the news in the uk about a racist murder 20years ago, sentenacing is still going on.Out of the five that were trialled, one was bald.In one of the papers they descibed him as "balding".Now what the f**k has being bald got too do with the case....The media does this ALL the time.Make your own minds up!
Also the majority of society are ignorant when it comes too male pattern baldness. The amount of times people have questioned where I am bald, and if I didn't shave, would it grow. Some of these people are educated as well...People just don't appear too realise that you lose the hair on top of your head, but can stil grow it at the back and sides. :jackit:

But would'nt having Cancer be seen as something to inspire sympathy in most people? I've never seen a cancer victim being taunted over their appearance.

But look at it this way the increased importance being placed on looks is due to the decrease in other more important problems faced by the western population.

If you go to the 3rd world no one gives a F*ck about balding when they have no food or shelter.

I dont think "today's age" has anything to do with how people perceive baldness, yeah we are more shallow, but baldness always was mocked, even at biblical era baldness was a curse... ; Elisha the prophet was mocked due to his baldness... his reaction shows that even back than it was a sensitive subject.
ref : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elisha

Code:
When a group of children from Bethel taunted the prophet for his baldness,Elisha cursed them in the name of God and two female bears came out of the forest and mauled 42 of them (2 Kings 2:23–25).

Add:
Wigs were dated back to freaking ancient Egyptian's era ...

To make my point more vivid, baldness's reputation has nothing to do with our age, or this age or that age...no cancer theories or any other theories.... baldness is (and always was) plain simple: ugly trait that none wants to have.... dont over analyze this...

Cancer has even been seen in dinosaur fossils.
