I am 20 days into Propecia. 20 days. Shedding is so bad, I can no longer disguise loss up top. It is very obvious now. I was looking at a photo of my top in Sept 3, and compared it to my reflection today. I cannot believe the difference. I'm totally lost, and I don't know what to do. This is insane.

You probably started too late. But don't be too hard on yourself, as it's all based on genetics. However, the only thing under your control is taking propecia. Don't give up now. Give it a chance, and odd are it will start working for you. Take a look at some of the studies on Propecia's overall effectiveness, and a few of the success stories in here. It will give you hope to carry on. Good luck. And remember - in the end - it's only hair, and you still have your health.

Thanks so much for the support guys. I really appreciate it.

What I didn't say was that I was about ready to get a hair cut before I started finasteride. It was really that thick up top. You would be amazed at the difference. I haven't got the heart to take pictures anymore, because I feel like shooting myself after I look at them.

I am becoming a freak.

cut out the stress before its effects become even more profound.

weepy, looks like you and I are in a similar situation.

I havent had any sides and I'm tired of waiting for the "3 months" that everyone is telling us to wait for.

just grin and bear it dude, that's what im doing.

Ive had to change my hairstyle b/c of my damn hair loss, but I could always go ceaser I guess if start losing more!?

I really don't want to have to buzz it off but I no where near that point.

I'm going to try my best to maintain, and I think since I started propecia/nizoral* as soon as i started hair loss I think I have a better advantage than most people.

you should do the same.

BTW- how far has your hair loss gone?? I'd say i'm NW2a

I would say 2a to 3, and RAPIDLY lossing it. I was around a Norwood 2, 20 days ago. This doesn't make any sense.

Maybe something has changed in your diet? Or perhaps you're under a greater deal of stress?

I don't know. But I am just floored by the change. I am pulling out 15 to 16 hairs at a time at the top of my head. This is true Telogen Effluvium. I also have extensive minaturization all around.

I am beginning to think I have diffuse unpatteend alopecia. (DUPA). This can come on rapidly. If this is true, the only hope I currently have is chemical. I am not a hair transplant candidate at this time, because I may or may not utlimately have a donor region.
