Hello so since the start of the year I've been monitoring my hairline, my dad started aggressively balding in his early 20s. I took pictures of my temples every month and saw that my right temple is receding slightly every month, leaving a small area of miniaturized hairs, and when I first noticed this I shat my pants and got super anxious, told myself maybe I was maturing and so on but I was probably just in denial. Friends and family all think I'm crazy since my hair is still thick (although right side feels thinner now) but as we all know people around you really don't know a thing about this topic.
I think I caught it very early, so I booked a meeting with a doctor through the phone and he prescribed me finasteride, he didn't mention anything about bloodwork or side effects whatsoever but I am of course worried about that. I told myself a few months ago that when my left temple also starts to move, I'll take action, because I've read that for some people it just stops on its own, but I also just want to just take finasteride and forget about hairloss and keep living my life. Also, my skull is shaped like someone ran into the back of my head with a semi (flat) lol so I really want to avoid going bald!
I have some questions regarding finasteride:
- Should I have bloodwork done before taking it? My sex drive is already on the low end for some reason right now.
- If you would to get gyno, would it go away on its own after you stopped finasteride?
- How effective is it for people with aggressive balding? I feel like my right temple is going at an alarming rate, and I'm only 20.
- Is it too early to hop on finasteride? Maybe you'll also think I'm crazy and I should wait, tell me If so.
Attached are some pictures, all from today. Maybe you guys don't see any recession but trust me, my right temple has thinned out and moved back a little bit which is noticeable if you compare to the start of the year.
I would really appreciate some advice, should I wait or not? Again, I think I've caught It early but maybe it'll stop? Thank you all.
