Hello all,
I'm 22 years old, and decided to post here finally to get some information... many people have told me that I have pretty thick hair, but since both my dad and uncles are mostly bald(they just have on the side and the back) I'm pretty sure that it'll get worse in 2 or 3 years...They said they've started losing a noticeable amount of hair when they were 27-8. I know it will be kinda the same for me eventually, and am not panicked about it like many guys my age here, but I like to keep what I have as long as possible! I had such a fine hairline until a year ago, and I don't experience shedding and losing many hairs a day that would make me notice hair loss, but just comparing my pics with 1 or 2 years ago, I can say I have lost my hairline for sure!
I've read some posts here, and I decided to start using propecia, but needed to post my own pics and get some opinions from you. I know it's pretty similar to others, but bear with me this time ;)
so here are my pictures:
I didn't really comb my hair in these and didn't try to hide anything! it actually looks a lot worse than what it really is! lol

Questions:

What kind of baldness pattern am I experiencing?! like what's the name based on the pictures?
Is propecia the answer to keeping what I have?! what do u suggest?
Is 22(will turn 23 in 3 months) so early to start on propecia? should I wait a few years more?
I don't really care that much about side effects such losing sex appeal(I think mostly people who are above 50 take this drug and assume their loss is pertained to propecia! ignoring the fact that sex appeal will go away by aging), but will it have any effect on the appearance on face, body etc?! like will it cause more body hair?(coming from mid-east, I have enough to deal with lol) or making my face wrinkle?! I even read some posts that it will reduces the size of penis?! 8O;)
where can I get these drugs from? I live in LA...do I need to do some check ups and get a prescription? or can I order it from the internet? how much is it?

thanks a lot guys.

Looks like frontal hairline recession mixed with thinning at the vertex, though it's a strange line pattern rather than a spot... I dunno about LA man, but I went to my GP and asked for a Proscar perscription. He'd never heard of proscar for male pattern baldness before but decided it was in my best interests, asked some colleagues and that was okay. You can also get a consultation with hairloss specialists and get a perscription from them, but It'd be more expensive. And finally you can just buy online from Canadian pharmacy or something.

Some people say minoxidil causes face bloating or wrinkles, never heard about that happening with propecia though... I don't think there's any scientific evidence that finasteride makes your willy shrink, don't worry about that.

Best of luck, looks like you caught it at a good time.

Well, I started at 21 and have had no problems with Propecia, and clinical studies show that almost all men don't. Dunno what people are saying about your penis shrinking but that is rubbish! Funny though.

I don't think you're losing any hair at the back but you might be starting to lose it at the front. It may not get much further than that, although if you have it in your family you can't be too careful. I would suggest speaking to a doctor and getting an opinion. From there you should make your own decision. Propecia is a great drug and has worked well for a lot of men - side effects are very rare - but it's also expensive, and it'd be a shame to start if you don't really need to.

I certainly hope it doesn't have any effect on me!
I know what you're saying, but as u said the front is not that bad, but comparing to 2 years ago, it's awful!!! I know it'll get worse since it runs in my family!!
any idea about dosage?! does 0.5 mg of propecia works on people?!
I've also ordered nazoril shampoo :)
