Around February/March of this year, I noticed a tiny sliver in the center of my scalp that I could always see my scalp through no matter how I brushed it; I assumed that it was just nothing and put the thought out of my mind, and after a day or two that sliver was gone. I've had OCD tendencies in the past, and assumed this was just another baseless fear my mind was latching itself to. Fast forward to May 30th however, and I notice that even after a month of growth from a haircut, a region in the center and front of my scalp had very thin hair. I thought I was just imagining things again, but even after I brushed and washed it, I still had a "monk spot" - to be more precise, it looks like someone carved a number 7 into my scalp. I took a close up of my scalp, and my heart sank; I couldn't even recognize it as myself and deleted it instantly... I was really going bald. Since then, I've noticed my hairline is very uneven along the temples, left moreso than right. Even now, it only looks absolutely terrible in certain lights, but even so it's disheartening.

I researched all of my options, and went to see a dermatologist, who told me basically what I had already thought. She recommended me to just use Rogaine 5% and was very resistant to prescribe finasteride. I've been using Rogaine foam twice a day since around the middle of June, and I got 1 mg of finasteride (Finpecia) that I've been taking since July 14th. Last week, I went to a hair clinic for a consultation. The consultant was trying to convince me to pursue laser therapy, but I am unsure of its effectiveness, and the price quote he gave me was the same as the lower range of a hair transplant.

Here are some pics. The last one is after a haircut, where it does not look as bad. I don't see any improvement since I started treatment, but I'm hoping that will change. No major sides from Finpecia so far. When out and about, I use Couvré to conceal the thin scalp. I actually did completely shave my head when I was 15, and it looked terrible due to the shape of the head, so not even thinking about it unless it's my last possible option.

Are you using a concealer in your photos? Hair/hair-line looks immaculate.

You are on the right course with treatment. Be patient and stay w/it. Good Luck DPAMAN.

Thank you. I'll keep with this regimen and hope for some improvement.

Those pics were without concealer. My scalp looks like this with the concealer. Not terrible...

And here is how my bridge looks after 6 months. Basically dropped the Rogaine and focused purely on the Finpecia. I'm basically right back where I was last year when I first noticed that "sliver" of thin hair. It still looks weird looking in the mirror from a distance and it looks like part of my hair is a different texture than the rest, but not something I can complain about, and it's only an exaggeration of how my hair always has been. Sadly, (and not gonna post pictures) my temples are likely never going to grow back in. The hair specialist last year said they were already miniaturized. Not mad, though — you can't have everything you want!

I feel very lucky that my body responded positively to this. Any sexual side effects that I did feel subsided fairly quickly, and the results were visible sooner than I could have ever expected them.

Great results dude your hair looks a lot thicker and healthier! You def have some regrowth too. I would have to disagree with your hair specialist though, I'm pretty sure finasteride helps to "save" hairs that are minaturized and help them grow back in a lot of cases.

Thanks! I could only hope you're right...
