Hello guys
So I took .5mg finasteride yesterday at around 7pm and 2/3 hours later I had this weird burning sensation in my legs/arms/head all night. I srsly couldn't sleep. I woke up this morning completely fine. However, its been almost 24 hours since I took my last finasteride pill and again I'm starting to feel the burning sensation if I sit still. Does anyone else experiences the same feelings??

high levels of androgen signaling/ar upregulation

Is that normal?? Do you recommend I should I stop or should I just ignore it??
its not normal, its caused by genetics.

generally androgens (male hormones) tend to cause inflammation thickening/roughening of the skin peripherally the skin will produce a certain amount of sebum and bacteria to compensate for this, which is completely genetic.

the burning sensation Is caused by your body overreacting to androgens via the androgen response element and gene transcription. whereas a normal person would only have a little of this issue, you have a lot more.

the same issue can be seen with some people and their body hair. Ex: people who has high ar signaling will feel their body hair hurt/tingle if they touch it while for normal people it feels like normal hair.

the only solution for this issue is to use a stronger anti androgen than finasteride

Thank u very much for taking the time to reply. On a second thought, It wasn’t really a “burning sensation” it was more like uncomfortable tingling/electric sensation under the skin. That being said, why is my body overreacting to androgen now??i thought finasteride was supposed to block it. Plus how using a stronger anti androgen be the solution??

what your describing is an androgen dependent issue so a stronger antiandrogen would be the answer

I had hives for like the first 3 days which popped up in a few different spots ranging from head to toe but it went away as I said, after about 3 days.

I had weird shiz happen to me the first day I took it for sure. A weird sensation in my chest like the boob area. It went away basically after the first day, but anyone that says this stuff has zero effects is lying to you. I noticed and had plenty of weird sides that I know for a fact are directly from this stuff.
I wouldnt listen to anyone else except yourself. If you feel sides I would definitely believe it. You just need to make that choice if its okay or its not worth it. IMO Most of it goes away after your body adjusts to it but not completely. Weird things every once in a while still happen

Don’t listen to DHTcel. Keep taking finasteride. The only sign to know if finasteride works for you or not is waiting 12 to 24 months. Everything else is bullshit.

I used to buy into this lie...I wish I would have gotten off finasteride sooner it totally fucked my hair density up. I gave finasteride a year and it gave me Telogen Effluvium and I lost over 50% density from baseline...tapered off then quit, hair came back some, tried finasteride again for around 5 months Telogen Effluvium came back again...If you get a burning/sore/itchy sensation on scalp and hair shed has bulb at end of hair...you have Telogen Effluvium.

you are messing with hormones taking finasteride, so its plausible you could adjust...I didn't get sides until few months into this from boning up and shooting like a p**rn star to low semen output brain fog which i was fine would as I know drug is working but the f*****g Telogen Effluvium as it did the opposite, less hair! good luck to the OP and listen to your body!

Same profile then me. I think the pattern is diffuse thinners and younger guys. Look that sh*t here only 1 month on finasteride.

I got increased libido, oily skin, acne and this mother f****r burning sensation in the top of my head.
thats what happened to me when I was on finasteride, a weird burning feeling on my head and whenever I would scratch 5-7 hairs would fall out in the same place.

It went away when I went on bicalutamide though

How long were you on bicalutamide before you noticed the itching went away? I’m coming up to a week and I still get itchy areas on my scalp (never the whole scalp usually just a small bit at a time).

Hoping it fucks off soon haha.

Itching is normal. I still itch, it can be due to several reasons such as folliculitis or a dry scalp due to a lack of sebum production. My scalp still itches mainly due to a lack of sebum production (there are dry patches on my scalp, in which the itching lessens if I use a conditioner), and I sometimes get these ‘red bumps’ which itch (folliculitis).

What is your sebum production like?

Ahhhh okay that might explain it, I started noticing itching back in May, it’s never been horrible or anything just a bit annoying. I think it’s probably due to dryness as you say, since I had bleached my hair a couple months prior.

Idk if it’s just my imagination but my skin/ scalp seems less oily than before I started my current regimen (which I think is a plus no one likes greasy hair).

OH, if you have had your hair bleached then that’s most likely the reason. I used to get my hair bleached often, and it made my scalp constantly itchy and inflamed. Using bicalutamide and estradiol will put your sebum production into the zeros, and you definitely will experience a dry scalp (it’s a bonus; previously my scalp would get oily within some hours and would have to wash my hair ED/EOD, now my scalp doesn’t get oily at all and I only wash my hair every four to six days). Your skin will also become dry, which is more easily combated with a simple skincare routine.

Yeah it got bleached twice in one day so it would’ve been Fs in chat for my scalp haha. The itching seemed to start a couple months after but I’d probably just put that down to the scalp “adjusting” to the lack of oils or whatever. But yeah I’ve noticed that even a couple days after my hair won’t be hella greasy anymore like it was a couple weeks ago.

What about sebum production on your face? Less acne?

Hmmm it’s hard to say because I never really had acne on my face to begin with, I do get occasional breakouts but it’ll be like one spot at a time. The area around my nose used to be hella oily though and I’ve noticed it’s a bit lessened now.

For some reason I feel even Finasteride managed to cut down on breakouts because before I started taking that I swear my breakouts were a lot more severe idk though.
