Hi All,

I noticed thinning around 2017 and been on Minoxidil, Keto since then. Added Micro-needling every week since 2018.

My Vit-D levels were low during the pandemic shutdown. Tested <=9 around 09/20 , Latest 02/21 test level shows 28 . 20+ is considered normal.

The Thinning is getting worse each year and seems un patterned.
Also Its only on top of head. Back/Donor area is healthy, but I cant get a transplant because of keloid issues.

Wary of finasteride because of side effects.
Toppik etc does helps but I am looking to delay my balding as much I can till 40. Would appreciate any recommendations.

When you're 55 you will still want the balding to stop. It never ends.
You can try finasteride and break the pills up into quarter sizes and add slowly. Look for side effects.
Try adding other things folks swear by.
Your advantage is that you are older so it should be a slow process. You won't wake up next month bald...

Thanks for the reply.
I had ED problems years ago, so that's why scared to start finasteride. Its more mental.
I will continue the current regimen till a bald patch appears then move to Hair piece.

Good call on the keloid issues. Wish my doctor had mentioned it to me as my donor area got butchered and he said it was my fault because I was prone to scarring. "Come back in and I will fix it for free!" I was like nah, just keep writing me minoxidil prescriptions because they had just started combining minoxidil and sometimes estrogel with the grafts. Surprisingly, plugs seem to survive better than smaller grafts because the extra hairs form a system that can engage in cross-talk while micro-grafts can fail because they are seen as intruders. The issues with the plugs was the doll-hair look and the scarring essentially everywhere, donor area and on top because the plugs often failed to sit properly so only two hairs would appear where there should have been seven. Microneedling to the rescue again as it heals scars progressively much before it results in possible hair growth. I knew it was working because of the amazing effects on the scar tissue which scabbed over each time for like six weeks and it is still making the cobblestoned grafts sit right but they seem to have newly developed scalp hair tissue and it's hard to find evidence of the transplant at all anymore except the color is darker.

Micro-needling does help to heal scars but not aware if anyone else is using it for this purpose. You are the first one to mention using it in the donor area.
Transplant works great if you had good hair in the first place.I would never get the desired thickness, volume and style.
It blends well if you grow your hair longer. After all its an illusion with borrowed density.

The plugs had a real advantage for some people with very high donor areas at least initially. I saw some, really two or three results where the width of the plugs is placed so that none of them actually touch but you can't tell except for the hairline which was usually worn like bangs. It could almost provide a juvenile looking amount of hair volume and strangely enough, it seemed that the baldest guys often had the best results if they had high fringe. I had considered working as a translator or a pilot in the navy but I was afraid that my hair would look embarrassing with a razor cut and I have heard other guys say the same thing unfortunately. So even baldness "solutions" can wreak havoc on our lives.
