4 Days on dutasteride

Day 1: 1.5 mg dutasteride ( three avodart capsules)

Day 2: 1.5 mg dutasteride ( three avodart capsules) + 1 mg finasteride (night)

Day 3: 1.5 mg dutasteride ( three avodart capsules)

Day 4: 0.5 mg dutasteride ( 1 avodart capsule) + 1 mg finasteride (night)

i tried a sort of loading dose with the dutasteride the first three days, today is day 5 where i'll be skipping it and from here on it'll be 0.5 every other day with 1 mg finasteride on the off days.


So far. If i my Libido was 8/10 Before any treatment, It reduced to 6/10 with 1 mg finasteride. After taking dutasteride in the dosages listed above the last 4 days its dropped to 4/10.

Also, i have these weird headaches which just come and go, sides of the head, suddenly the back of the head, then the front, dull pain.

third side would be the nipple burn i got yesterday but whats weird is only towards the right. I thought it was just psychosomatic (however you spell it) and changed shirts but no, a few times when the shirt brushed against the right side i'd get a burn. Doesnt burn constantly though.

Been shedding full force since past 2 weeks.

anybody here who had similar sides on dutasteride that went away with continued usage?

i wouldnt say its suicidal but ive never thought loading doses were a good idea. you could probably have avoided all the sides if youd have just took a regular dose.

that is not even a loading dose...doing what you did isnt going to significantly lower your dht to its new state-state dht level any quicker than just doing the .5mg a day.

you cant get gyno or even signs of gyno after 4 days...its in your head

I don't see any sense in that statement. The only real difference that taking a loading dose makes is that you get to the standard "steady-state" blood level of the drug faster.

whats the point of the dutasteride loading dose anyway? 5ar2 levels are way way down to finasteride level after only a couple doses of dutasteride. People are too impatient imo

Impatience is in fact the reason!

When dutasteride first became available, lots of people were snowed into believing that it was some kind of magical new drug for male pattern baldness (Sawaya called it a "WOW" drug), and some people were hot to have the full blood level of it right away.

i'm not impatient really..just read up on a few websites where they said to take 1.5 mg the first week then switch to 0.5 every other day and it'd be better then just starting with 0.5 mg eod.

as for sides, yes, you can get sides within the short period i stated.. i've gotten more than a dozen friends on finasteride and they never bothered reading up on sides, they'd just start popping, the libido loss for quite a few within the first week and sore nipples for one who was taking 2.5 mg proscar quite soon into treatment.


i had libido loss within my third to fourth dose of finasteride when i started 2 years ago. And i've never had a nipple burn in all this time (except for just slight sensation when i started 50 mg spironolactone but left it after 10 days), three days of dutasteride and it was undeniably there. it went away yesterday, but i took another 0.5 mg avodart today, hope it doesnt return on 1/3rd the dosage.

so it was pretty much useless taking that many pills .. oh well

i dont get whats with this 3 week shed i've been going through though..i'm losing so much from my donor area its not even funny. What sort of hairloss attacks your donor area first.. everytime i tug there gently i end up with 5-6 hair..i'll stop towards night time after i've dislodged a good 40 hair or so.. and then the next morning will start in the SAME region again where the previous night i couldnt get anymore! .. donor areas gone incredibly thin.. was on 1 mg finasteride for 2 years and 5% minoxidil for 8 months..

anybody else here whos donor area has taken a hit?
