Hi all - seeking advice on what to change, or not, in my hair routine... all input welcome!

TLDR - 32m, Norwood 2.5, nothing but 1mg daily for 4 years, she's holding kinda... but starting to notice my scalp more dead center in the front of my hairline. I'm considering switching to Hims 1.2mg finasteride/3mg min combo....

The journey:
I first noticed my hair receding as young as 22 but decided to hold off on any kind of treatment until I was unhappy/worried about how I looked at about age 28. I quickly hopped on finasteride and have almost never missed a single day. Nothing else in my routine.

The results: I truly believe the finasteride as kept my hairline at bay with only minimal losses over the last 4 years. I believe I'd at least be a NW3 without it at this point. It is only now that I am noticing thinning again.

Genetically I have always had thinner hair and a high forehead. Dad is not bald but my mom's dad was straight back all the way. Before he passed I was sure to ask him about his recession and he started going at about age 30. For those of us that feel bad, imagine your grandfather's generation of treatment... at least we have options!

Habitually I eat well and get cardio in a few times a week. I smoke like a chimney but edibles it is from here on out.

I dont know if finasteride is loosing its effectiveness on me and if its time to try dutasteride somehow, or if I should first add min to my routine. I am a little hesitant to switch from the finasteride to this new compounded drug, but I figure its worth a shot?

Appreciate the advice.

hi ive been on finasteride and minoxidil for over 30 odd years and still have a decent amount of hair.
I mix certrizine tabs crushed up with the back of a spoon and add to the minoxidil.im on 5mg tabs of finasteride just chopped into 4 so roughly 1.25 mg a day .
I laser cap 3 times a week also.i may have to strengthen the tabs as im getting some shedding im now 58 so i my have to ramp up the strength of the tabs.
There is a report finasteride my be band in the uk but my hair specialist say there will be alternatives available.I will follow up on it for my own interests
Cheers

I bet u never had severe hairloss to begin with. Just minor and the side effects arent worth it. Also none of these meds even worked for my hair.

Do NOT try dutasteride until it's the only option left.

First, try topical minoxidil for ~3 months. If you're truly desperate and really losing ground fast, try low dose oral minoxidil.
