diffuse thinner mostly in the front behind the hairline:

Real succes for me would be maintaining for ten years or more untill something better comes along, but in the meantime this is moderate succes which I am very happy with (I have more and healthier hair now then in 2003!!). (1 year and ten months on 1mg finasteride, I split my proscar in five)

I also stopped minoxidil somewhere along the road and I didn't loose much after stopping it, no big shed (big surprise)

read my story and different updates here:

Thank you for coming back and making an update after such a long time. Like that you give many of us finasteride users hope. Do you have pictures of how your hair looks now and how it did 3 years ago. You know one picture says more than a thousand words. Good Luck for the next years!

Re: 1 year and ten months on propecia, 3 years on treatments

It's been 3 years and 9 months on finasteride now. I am maintaining perfectly which is GREAT.

Pictures can be seen in the my story-link (see below) on page 6.

My hair is better now then in 2003.

I also use nizoral and have used minoxidil in the past all of which can be read about in the my story-thread...

Re: 1yr10mnths finasteride, 3yrs on treatments(NOW 3yrs9mnths on finasteride)

I believe minoxidil was not very efficient anymore for me (that was also the reason I started finasteride) and finasteride is the cornerstone of my regimen. It worked (gave some more hair) a little in the beginning but it never stopped my shedding, finasteride managed that.

You can read about my experience with minoxidil in more detail in the my story-link below.

Thanks for the update. Just want to know, how long did you use minoxidil before you decided to give up.

I am planning to follow the same approach. Its been 10 months on minoxidil and 4 months on finasteride. Last few months I have dropped minoxidil application to every alternate day. Has'nt increased my shedding. I attribute it to finasteride which works fine with long hair (few hairs are shed), but when I buzz my hair to number 3, they start falling. if I give a slight tug to test their strenght when they are buzzed, I can pull out 4-5 hairs easily. This does not happen if they have grown a bit....very confusing??

I one day plan to stop it. Would help me a great deal if you could tell me your minoxidil experience thanks.

Sorry. :eek:opsblush:

Anyway, congratulations! I'm a diffuse thinner too, possibly even DUPA but it's too early to really tell. I figured I'd be bald in ten years (even with meds), but your story gives me hope.
