He charges $500 for a "consultation" BEFORE he treats somebody - proof of a BUSINESSMAN, not a doctor.
And you do realize that anyone can update wikipedia - including this Dr John Crisler. Which wouldn't surprise me as the dude seems to have a huge online presence.
His entire expertise is based on anti aging by hormonal replacement therapy, which is already a hotly debated issue in the medical community. I bet he's real good friends with Sly Stallone though.

Not referring to us - a different forum. What kind of a professional says things like that? He said that in response to a few people asking him questions about his proposed solutions. When they disagreed with him or showed counter evidence, he said they were ignorant and needed to do more research.
Compare that to someone like Dr. Rassman who even after being slandered over and over on various message boards will actually take the time to write out a decent, thoughtful, and informative post in response to his detractors without resorting to name calling.

HRT is far from risk free. You can end up even worse off than you were before taking it.
Funny how people think taking finasteride for life is so scary but then are so eager to take T replacement for the rest of their lives as well.

That doctor is an idiot. Anyone who calls people with educated responses a dickhead is clearly out of answers, well done mate, this is the sad fact of life SOME people may receive side effects from finasteride, and even smaller amount might be for life. For the majority the side effects will be removed with cessation of the drug, that simple. And yes i do have sympathy for those that receive permanent damage from that drug but no i dont feel sorry for people who placebo suffer for years thinking there is something wrong with them for taking finasteride.

I appreciate Crisler's openness, and sometimes his 'maverick' attitude, but you've got to wonder if he's really helping his own cause. Amongst the medical community, anything 'unscientific' - calling people 'dickheads', making unqualified statements, and all the rest of it - will go down like a lead balloon. By having a doctor associated with these things supporting the cause, the idea that propecia might cause serious side effects will probably be further sidelined by mainstream doctors.
And, incidentally, I think finasteride can cause some long-term sides. I think the number of people who get stuck in this rut just because of finasteride, however, is rather low. Probably just as many people have experienced these problems after antidepressants, or any other drugs heavily prescribed.
