I don´t get it, what are you trying to say? we all know DHT is essential in developing male genitalia and the like during puberty and teenage years but that´s why it´s an over 18 drug. I don´t think there´s much need for it when you´re an adult as you did when you were younger. Do you think it´s necessary to continue with DHT levels as high as you needed when you were younger?

i know its more important when your younger but i dont think that as soon as you turn 18 or older it has no use. I have been on finasteride for almost 6 years and i just have a bad feeling about very long use that some day we are all going to be screwed. Hormones regulate are life and we are altering our hormonal balance by taking finasteride. I have had 2 blood tests over the last 5 years and have had very altered hormoned levels. I had high test but low free test and also very elevated estrogen. High estrogen in males can lead to many diseases including heart disease. I am not sure if you are aware but DHT is your body is a natural anti-aromatase. This is one of the reasons most people that take finasteride will have higher female hormones. This leads to b**ch tits "gyno" which is a side for some, also a hard time gaining good muscle plus fat around our waist, and of course low libido whch has to do with high estrogen as well as low DHT.

we know this, it's why you don't want finasteride around in utero males (at a specific time) because that DHT is used in the embryology of male genitalia...

There´s no doubt it´s going to alter your other hormone levels, especially testosterone and oestrogen! However, you will still have more than 30% of your normal DHT levels in your system, which is why i wouldn´t recomment dutasteride, which pretty much stops DHT circulation. it´s matter of choice really. a matter of seeing how much hair loss is affecting you. it seems the tests show that propecia doesn´t alter testosterone and oestrogen levels to make it dangerous for u to take the drug. of course, some people can have side effects, but i think if u can either tolerate those sides or in most cases, not have sides at all, the benefits of the drug far outweigh the negative. lastly, there are some men who are born with no 5ar so as far as i understand it, have no DHT. SOMEONE PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I´M WRONG ON THESE PEOPLE AS I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS CONDITION! and they seem to live ok, apart from growing up with reduced prostates.

well from what i have read on the forums alot of us have high estrogen so apparently its blocking enough DHT not to keep our estrogen at bay. I cant wait for hair cloning to to come so i can rid my body of all these meds. As far as dutasteride, i think youre right, that stuff blocks both types of dht, that cant be good.

I guess we're doomed to have people constantly referring to "system" (blood serum?) levels of DHT, rather than the degree of inhibition of the individual 5a-reductase enzymes.

{SIGH}

They are deficient only in the the type 2 form of 5a-reductase. They have normal levels of the type 1 enzyme, so they do have DHT generated by that one.

Bryan you seem to know alot. Did you major in bio or perhaps you are a med student?

How do you feel about the use of anti-aromatase such as 6OXO for bringing estrogen levels down.

I am worried over my higher estrogen since i started finasteride.
