5 Month finasteride+ 2 Month Rogaine Progress Update

Here is an update on my situation right now. Ive been using finasteride 0.5mg per day for past 5 months and rogaine for past 2 months. I decided to treat hairloss agressively right away as my dad was nw6 at age 23. The rest of his male family members also reached nw6-7 in their 20s.

Some of you may remember me from the post where I shed tons of hair in the shower and quickly diffused in a nw6 pattern in a matter of months. Recently I saw a slowdown in shed which went from around 500 hairs per day to around 50 in the showers. My hair is still thin but ive been noticing the density has improved a lot.
Also I am sure the added length plays a big role in hiding the hairloss but before rogaine it was still super thin to the point where scalp was visible from the top in any lighting.

Your hair looks fantastic and you have a Norwood 1 on top of it all! I think us diffusing guys can respond really well to finasteride if our hair follicles are still alive. My hair has become so much thicker in just 1.5 months and hopefully it will continue like yours. DHT is always the culprit in male pattern baldness despite what others say.

Thanks man. I'm hoping to get back the density I had at the beginning of the year and then hopefully maintain that somehow. Have you got any side effects from propecia (boner or libido related)? I think my libido is lower than it was before by like 20%.

That actually sounds just like me. My libido seems to have diminished slightly but when I get into it I have no problems getting and staying hard for a long time. I don't actually know if I can blame propecia because I had already stopped jacking as much since school started because I have no time. Much of libido is in our heads so I'd say propecia has possibly lowered my libido but it could be due to external factors. Also I still get morning wood and my ejaculate has the same volume and color. Overall, I'd give up a lot to keep my hair and I'm very satisfied with my decision to start propecia.

I never got morning wood in my life interestingly, even when I was like 13-14 years old. I always got randoms throughout the day. Yeah the libido thing could possible be psychosomatic but I do remember my libido was extremely high at the time when my hairs started falling like crazy and now its not as high anymore when im only losing like 40 hairs in the showers compared to the 400 from before.

I think minoxidil is having a bigger affect on my than finasteride is.

That is what I meant on how your pictures and hair length misconstrued how bad it was. Nobody makes improvements in 6 months from looking bald (in your first pics) to absolute no baldness ( in your current). And all through this process you have been crapping on how treatments do not work.

Nah it got a lot worse. I am not a smart man. The 0.5mg everyday was working for me so I tried to see if I can push it to 0.25mg everyday. Been at that for about a month and recently ive been losing a lot of hairs, almost as much as I was in june. Switching back to 0.5mg today and not going back to 0.25 mg. I believe somebody alex had a similar experience when switching to lower than 0.5 mg dose.

I hope for you the best. Are you taking 0.5 mg because you have some side effects? I'm 10 months on finasteride 1.25 mg and I'm still shedding a lot. I don't think I have any improvement at all.

Yeah im taking it just to see the lowest I can get away with. Also it is the dosage that alex uses so I just went with that.
