So yeah it's been 6 months now I've been on 1.25 mg of finasteride. I've also used Nizoral shampoo for 2 months now.

My hair pretty much looks the same as it did before.

I know it's suppose to take a while, but shouldn't I see SOME change by now?

If it never thickens could it still be slowing down further hair-loss?

I'm kinda depressed about this right now :(

Some people would call this success. You dont know how you would look without the finasteride..
Not everybody is so lucky to regrow hair like those guys in the success story thread :/
Just keep taking the finasteride, 6months isnt so long actually, maybe youre lucky and the hair will come back

Well I started relatively early so it would be great just to keep it from getting worse.

Sorry no pix. I had a buzz cut back when I started and I just did it again yesterday (after growing it for few months) out of frustration.

Really regret not taking one before cutting it.

Twice a day and only working for a 3rd of the users kinda put me off. I'll have it as an option down the road.

Minoxidil works for more than a 3rd of users, so I'm not quite sure where you got your info. Minoxidil is actually pretty damn good at growing hair, and like all hair loss meds it takes dedication. Two times daily can be a hassle, sure. But I've read and seen people get results from just one P.M. application. I suggest you look at the Bernstein Medical site and look at their patients who are only on medical treatments. Those photos give hope to nearly all Androgenetic Alopecia sufferers.

if it hasn't changed that's a success it means you are maintaining so far. Only half of people get regrowth you shouldn't go in expecting to get great regrowth

Hard to tell if you are making progress without pics. You could be regrowing, but slowly, which is normal.

I know you didn't mean it this way, but it is a bit annoying that you call maintenance "nothing." If your hair has not changed in 6 months, that is a fairly good sign that finasteride is working for you - it is working to prevent the progression of a progressive condition. That means that if you don't lose any additional hair, you are seeing the benefits of this drug. If you were falling off of a cliff and someone caught you, you would feel as if that was a success, right? You should think of hair loss in the same way. Anything you can do to keep it from getting worse is a "win" and should be thought of as such. The majority of finasteride users will likely see maintenance and/or very light regrowth at best. Most people will not regrow a full head of hair on any combination of hair loss treatments.

Like others have said, if your hair hasnt changed then I would call that success. It could well just stay that way for the next 10+ years. Would you not be happy with that?

Definately since I started it early. I'm not completely bald anywhere, just thin spots. at the sides of the hairline and crown.
