i am 19, suffer from recession, n started using rogaine/minoxidil 5% on my hairline n temples about 6 n 1/2 months ago...when i started...i suffered a horrible shed. it subsided after a couple of weeks n my temples have grown back all the hairs that had previously shed with more hair...i have more hair on my temples then ever! my hairline had stabalized through months 3 to 6 but for the past 2 weeks my hairline has been shedding...my temples have remain the same but my hairline is shedding!! i c a bunch of weak flimsy hair at the front now...will my hairline grow back thicker n stabalize again??? i also see a bunch of vellus hairs at the hairline where i am applying the minoxidil but shouldnt it be getting darker and longer since im already nearing month 7? im deathly worried...please help me...thanks

i currently use minoxidil 5%, t-gel/nizoral, n hair vitamins btw

Couldn't you just say "and" instead of "n"? Makes your posts that much more coherent. Anyways, I'm going through the same thing. My crown looks better than ever, but my hairline is going fast. Might be genetics kicking in full force, or just a normal shedding cycle. I know I'm supposed to lose these hairs anyways looking at my family members (all are Norwood 5's or worse) so maybe it's just one of them synchronized sheds. Keep your chin up ese...

You need to add an anti DHT agent, such as propecia. I would also add folligen to help you with the sheds.

Ironically, I'm losing some of the results on my crown while my hairline continues to improve. Go figure.

This same exact scenario happened when I started Accutane in May. I finished in early September, so I'm hoping for the same type of turnaround.

Turnaround is possible it happend to me after 4 1/2 months on I shed like crazy for two weeks and then good growth.

Bruce, why dont you recommend spironolactone to him for DHT blocking. He is just a young fella, dont you think this would work as well.

If all else fails Axon I think it is better to have a full head with thinning at the temples than a big hole in your vetex and full temples so shoot for growing hair in your crown. It is natural for many guys to have the widows peak who arent losing there hair. When we realize somone is going bald is when we see the whole in there crown.

did you applied minoxidil in your crown only or temple ?
dont use it on ur temple just stick with the crown as it is most effective there.
