Why are you taking over 2mg of Propecia a day? Looking at the rest of your regime I'm concerned that you're overdoing it.

Weren't you one of them dudes who "catched it early" and didn't have diffuse thinning, only crown thinning? Seems like catching it early doesn't work in many cases. Or then again, you might just be a non-responder and the balding is going the "natural" way.

concerned over what....2.5mg of finasteride is SLIGHTLY more effective than 1 mg....its not like it has negative effects once you go over 1 mg.

I'm a little sus about that Finpecia stuff. I know, I know; Inhouse has a good reputation, I've bought Dutas and Retin-A there myself, and there's nothing wrong with Indian generic manufacturers as a rule... despite all this, you still see posts from many generic finasteride users on different forums complaining about the efficacy of their Indian generics. Fake batches? Poor storage or manufacturing diminishing the potency? I dunno.

Thomas, get on dutasteride, I wish I had that done that months ago when I was suspecting that my hairloss is too strong for finasteride.

taug..how long have you been on dutasteride now?

did you just abruptly stop and finasteride and start taking dutasteride the next day or are you doing a finasteride/dutasteride combo?

3 weeks

finasteride/dutasteride combo for now. I am gonna stop finasteride when I feel that Avodart has started working and I may not need it anymore.

I'm coming up to 7 months on finasteride and nothing but negative, I did have the real Propecia for 3 months but it didn;t seem to make any difference although it may be me but could swear I was not as tired on the real thing. I'm moving over to dutasteride which I hope wil be here next week, i'm going to restart Spectral DNC.
I see you're on Spectral for a while, no positive for this for you from using it?

Nick, one advice!

Spectral DNC is life long decision. I often see people starting and stopping minoxidil. They are always the ones who claim that it made their hair worse. So, if you go for it, be sure not to stop after some months!

Thanks Taug you're right and have been thinking about that quite a bit..that's the reason I stopped it after a month before...couldn't see me keeping it up forever. I'll think some more but maybe should get on the dutasteride and see how that goes then Spectral can be my last resort...

Think its right though for all us finasteride/Propecia users that are over 6-8 months think seriously about changing to dutasteride as I believe thats enough time to at least see a slowdown in hairloss.

When I hear you talking like that I think you should definetly go for dutasteride only first. Maybe you are gonna change your opinion in a few months, good luck!

dutasteride's arrived so taken today and dropping finasteride. Will see how it goes....

Only took a week to arrive from UP and no tax. Good omen maybe...

Will take every other day...I only ordered a months supply in case the sides are too strong...hopefully there will be no sides compared to finasteride...that would be great.

Thin Jim's mail help inspire me as he had been on finasteride more than 6 months with no resolt so switched to dutasteride and got good results. Lets hope it works the same for all of us that switch...

i think some people are missing the point here...

these treatments are designed to stop and (overtime) reverse male pattern baldness. how can people say that after 7 months the treatments are not working. My hair was bad for 8 months after starting treatment, then things picked up my hair got thicker and i was excited. Now i am shedding again but from understanding the process of miniturization you have to expect hairs to grow in and follow the same timeline. Its unbelievable frustrating i must admit, i remember looking at my hair in the mirror 2 months ago and thinking, wow, thats looking like it used to. Now its lost 1/4 of its density again...but i'm going to hang in there, i have nothing to loose.

Since I am on the finasteride/dutasteride combo I didn´t notice any difference from finasteride only. dutasteride sides are no concern for me. Just stay optimistic!

Keep me posted on how you do...I've seen you say many times how finasteride has hurt your hairline. I'm 7 weeks in on finasteride myself, and hairline help is what I need most...so if dutasteride rescues you and I end up in the same boat as you are now in 6-8 months, your advice will really be appreciated.

I have been on Propecia (Finasteride) for almost 4 years now. For a while I thought it had stopped my hair loss, although not growing sh!t back. Then after about a year and a half to two years I noticed I was losing more. I probably just didn't realize I was losing it throughout that time. Within the last 6 months has been the biggest shock for me. It seems worse then ever, and there is no way for me to come my hair without it looking kind of stupid. If anything, finasteride probably just slowed down my hair loss a bit. I recently started taking Rogaine which is going to suck if I have to take it for the rest of my life. Now I am really considering the dutasteride, but want to see what the Rogaine does first. Anyways, from my experience finasteride helps slow down or possibly stop the balding process, but it isn't going to grow anything back unless you are a great responder.
