7 Months On Minoxidil (just Added Finasteride)

Hello everyone,
I posted 7 months ago about my status and how horrible my hair was. That time I started using minoxidil (I used to use it before but quit and lost hair of course..didn't know it's a lifetime commitment).

Anyway, Here are the before pictures:-

After 7 months on 5% minoxidil:-

That's probably my peak gain with minoxidil, or I'll have to wait 5 more months to check if I can gain more. 7 months, I was too scared to start Finasteride, so I didn't. Now I know that I've to add it, so I started taking it and now on my tenth day of 1 mg Finasteride. encountered the common testicles ache (Now gone or almost gone) and pelvic muscles stretching feeling (I think that could be disappearing as well) and lower libido which I think is refreshing for my case. I am also planning to add Nizoral 2% and probably Zinc/Biotin.

I'll keep everyone updated with my progress..any suggestions are welcome !


**Update 1** 8 months on Minoxidil and 1 month on Finasteride

- I can see some vellus hairs turn into my hair's color..probably a sign that they'll turn terminal? my hair loss started 4-5 years ago and I still have 80-90% of my hairline as vellus. I am wondering if most of them would turn terminal in a year or so.
- I know it's too early for any finasteride results to appear and those are mostly minoxidil results.
- I tried taking a multivitamins pill daily containing 25 mg Zinc to counter the T to estradiol conversion but after 2 weeks I started having an oily, quite greasy hair, and a so damn high libido..so I stopped it.

Are those pics good signs of regrowth?

Yep, I use liquid minoxidil.

I'd say I feel an overall regrowth since my hair was almost all gone. Crown feels thicker I think..I grew some vellus hair (thickening I think) on temples. I noticed that front is gradually thickening as well.

i have a question

I just started minoxidil about 10 weeks ago...week 3 and 4 i shed..then by week 5 i started to see in magnifying mirror new sprouts...its now week 10 and i definitely see growth--but also i see more really fine hair coming in--does that hair thicken up and grow more over the months?

The shedding is normal for the first 6 weeks. I am sure the baby hairs do grow more.because I had them all over my head and they slowly turned thicker. I am not sure to what extent they'll grow or if it's guaranteed for them to turn into normal terminal hair and that's why I added finasteride.

I think finasteride will help you especially since you are still fairly young.

A piece of advice which I never had the chance to try while on finasteride is if you feel sides coming on, I would use Zinc picolinate (50mgs), Copper 2mgs, and 5000 ius of Vit D3. they are cheap and reversed many of the sides i had once i was off finasteride. Namely brain fog and lower libido.

Biotin is supposed to help hair growth as well. Im on 5000 mcgs.

Hold strong, I saw my friend regrow half his hair, and I have a good feeling things will improve significantly for you.

You also have Brotzu to look forward to.

taking my 14th pill of Finasteride today, I must say that the testicle and pelvis pain have totally disappeared after continual use. I hope that's a good thing to read for those who are afraid to start Finasteride.

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. I'll add Biotin and Zinc ASAP..I already looked them up locally and found cheap tablets with the same ingredient doses you mentioned if I remember correctly.

Well, I took it for 2 weeks and gradually had a so high libido and easy erection. I got oily skin, greasier hair, and gradually noticed that I am shedding which in my case wouldn't be so noticeable..but you just feel it.

My guess about the shed was that since I started a new treatment, I've to shed the old hair, but I don't know really.
I stopped the zinc and the shed has stopped, I still have quite oily skin and slightly greasy hair. I am going to wait another 2 weeks or month to see if they'll stop. I am less hornier now tho, libido back to when I started using finasteride.

I think so..its hard to tell in past month without a side by side but from over all start? yes you are doing really well.

How long does finasteride take to kick in usually? Im just wondering selfishly for my own research if the minoxidil is still aiding in gains.

Well, Crown improved. frontal area could be slightly better. People around me started to tell me that for the first time in years, they see me progressing with hair regrowth. I honestly think it's still minoxidil giving me the regrowth...I am not losing any hairs tho, that could be Finasteride? I'd say that finasteride's effect could be noticeable starting from next month or even more. Keto has made my hair feel better, so I'll keep using it.

Only sides I am experiencing now are the itches..

From my own experience. I think you'll continue to see impressive results. Previously when I started using minoxidil, my best results were around the 8th month..so, I think that's something you should look forward to

Hmm..that makes me wonder, why would you be into Finasteride when females have better alternatives like Spirono and estrogel?
