Hello all,

I used to post here a lot more around 2002-2004 but only come around now for an annual update, really just to document how a consistent clinically-proven regimen worked for me.

I stuck to my regimen religiously and can count on one hand the times I missed an application in the last 8 years.

Jan 2001: Diagnosed male pattern baldness by Dermatologist with NW1.5
Jan 2001: Began 1mg Finasterade/day
Mid-2001: Added Xandrox 5% night & day, added Neutrogena T-Gel shampoo.
Jan 2009: No progression in male pattern baldness. Still NW1.5.

Ever thought it could have just been a mature hairline? How old are you?

I get the same question every year.

I wish it was simply a mature hairline; I'd save a lot of cash.

Both grandads are NW7s, so I always suspected it would happen to me as well. I vowed throughout my 20's to get on a regimen as soon as someone made a "Hey, you're losing your hair" comment (My thinking was that I see myself every day and may not be the best judge.)

So...one day my girlfriend at the time and I were outside in the bright sun and she said, "Hey, I think you're thinning!". That afternoon I was at the dermatologist who examined my scalp and confirmed that I was thinning. He prescribed 1mg/finasteride a day. He said I could use it in combination with 5% minoxidil for the most effective results. He said, "you should hold that line with treatment, but once you've lost hair its nearly impossible to get back". I added Xandrox and T/Gel after reading this forum. Since then I've held the line (knock on wood) and even got thicker behind the hairline. Beyond having a NW1.5 hairline I have no visible signs of hairloss.

I am 35.

Anyways, I hope my story helps some of you all to persevere.

Seeya next year!

great to hear a success story!

And some people here believe that those with low Norwoods shouldn't even be posting on these forums? :jackit:

If the OP hadn't started tackling his hairloss at Norwood 1.5 he could be much further advanced by now. Better safe than sorry. Well done :)

Also, if you notice yourself thinning at the crown, I think it's safe to say that it's no longer just a 'mature hairline'

So you use Xandrox 5% during the day and Xandrox 5% with retin-a at night? Is that correct? How manly milliliters do you use per application?

Smart guy.

Well done, I'm glad you still have your hair. You deserve it. And thanks for posting this.
