82M

Has anybody tried 82M as a replacement for rogaine (or for propecia, for that matter)? Did a search, and the results were pretty minimal.

I've been in discussions with Shapiro Medical Group in Minneapolis, and recently went in for an in-person consultation. During our discussion, they mentioned that they've seen significant results with patients using Dr. Bauman's (baumanmedical.com) "82M" formula.

Reading the white paper (http://www.scribd.com/Doctor/109423398/Bauman-Medical-Formula-82M-Minoxidil-v-100512-AJBauman), and reaching out to his office, I found that it contains anti-DHT components, as well as anti-inflammatory ingredients, plus the 5% minoxidil. Directly from the white paper:
"Formula 82M contains 5% minoxidil, tretinoin, the topical steroid 0.01% fluocinolone, and a natural 5-alpha reductase blocking agent, oleanolic acid, in addition to several other ingredients. As unique and important as the ingredient composition is the proprietary method of solubilizing and stabilizing the mixture which allows better stability, longer shelf life, and improved usability of the Formula 82M compounded configuration."

The testing done was fairly significant (as seen in the white paper), and the results were pretty damn amazing.

I'm thinking about giving it a shot, but am awaiting to hear back from Dr. Bauman's office regarding pricing, etc. So far, they've told me that in order to be prescribed 82M, there's a $100 one-time administrative fee (which can be used towards any in-house procedure in the future), but I'm trying to see if I can get around that.

FYI, I had a follow-up call w/ them today. the product is roughly $75/mo (sold in 3-month increments). It's 3 60mL liquid bottles. There's no way around the $100 admin fee, as you need to have a video consultation with Dr. Bauman before he'll prescribe it to you.

It's expensive, but being off propecia now, I'm going to need something stronger to maintain what I have...it's either gonna be this, or I'm gonna try the RU58841, which I'm still hesitant on considering the mysteriousness behind the drug.

Perhaps 82M is good stuff, but the way I look at it is: How effective would it be if you removed the minoxidil from the equation? IMO...not very much at all.

I think Dr. Bauman needs to be vetted a bit more. Sure he's a talented Doctor, but he seems too money hungry to me. He pimps high quality Biotin supplements and claims they give results. He had patients on a Bimatoprost regimen that had absolutely no gains all while publicly praising the results. Also, the guy is like a negative norwood.

btw, you can drop the nioxin unless you just like how it makes your hair look. It does absolutely NOTHING for hair loss.

i agree with your comment, in that if you removed the minoxidil from the equation, it wouldn't be very effective. my understanding, after reading up on it and talking with them, is that the 82M mix basically enables the minoxidil to absorb better than typical rogaine-esque solutions, which then in turn has better results from the minoxidil itself...likewise, they added a couple other things to it, such as the DHT-blocker.

...as far as your comment on my nioxin usage, i use it because i needed a decent shampoo for the days i'm not using nizoral...i do nioxin 3 days a week, nizoral 3 days a week, and then just a regular dove shampoo on the other day and/or for days that i take multiple showers. any suggestions on a more beneficial shampoo to use on those nizoral-off days?

I agree 82M has been more tolerable for me, so far. I used the OTC Costco variety of Minoxidil before and after a year, it irritated my scalp and caused a lot of dandruff. Between 82M and Finasteride 1.25mg, I know it's too low a dose, I've seen an improvement already in hair density. That could be totally psychosomatic, of course. :D
