Been on Dutas for 9 months now... as you can see from the pics below it has helped thicken up my existing hair quite nicely. Still plenty of work to be done so added Dr Lee's 5% minoxidil with Retin A to the mix once per day (on a night time as makes my hair look crap if i use it before styling). hoping this will help turn some of the many velus hairs I have growing on my hairline terminal. Also drinking lots of green tea and eating very healthy (replaced white rice with brown, pasta with wholewheat pasta etc and cutting out most crap junk food).

I know some people doubt using things like dutas over the geniune avodart but i think its worked a bit for me... whilst playing with my hair last night my girlfriend said 'is your hair thicker?' and she never coments on my hair normally knowing its a touchy subject. Heres to hoping the progress continues!

Pics are when my hair was very wet.

be careful with retin A. It might be harmful for few of us who get scalp irritation.

Yeah it made my scalp feel like it was burning a little bit at first but its ok now, think my scalp just needed a little bit of time to get used to it. Also using nizoral helps i think as well.

Does anyone have any tips on restoring the hairline? Like i say i have loads of tiny tiny velus hairs, but want them to go terminal. I've heard some people mention msm but aint got a clue wot it is or how it works?

MSM, as far as i know accelerates hair growth, so you can see results faster.

THe only thing i´d say is be careful if you´re using Dutas every day. If you are, i´d suggest switching to 0.5mg three times a week and Finasteride on the other days, after your regrowth has stabalised. This is because we don´t know the long-term effects of Dutasteride on the body and some even say it could affect your brain since some DHT is required in its functioning. But definite improvement, well done and good luck!!

I forgot to say the same. Great improvement. I am also thinking about adding dutasteride to my regimen.

hey guys thanks for the positive reaction to my improvement. Its good that other people think i've improved and not just me. Its sometimes easy to think yer just getting carried away but reassuring to hear others say its a good improvement!

As for dutasteride, i'm not too keen on taking it due to the possible effects in the brain cause thats pretty damn scary, so gonna stick with it for maybe another 6 months and then switch to finasteride once i feel i've got the max improvement from dutasteride. At the mo i'm gonna stick wiht it tho as I'm happy with the results i have been getting, but your definatly right about the unknown effects of long term use.

If it's FDA approved to take everyday (like it is for BPH), why are many of you scared of the side-effects?

We don't know the brain needs DHT. We just know it produces DHT. I strongly doubt there are any long term effects. My main concern is that is someone starts to go crazy, they might not catch themself. I'm sure this would be rare, since no such side effects were ever reported. But 3x per day is very safe. Take finasteride on your off days only if it is locally prescribed and only as a back up incase your dutas is fake. If you know your avodart is real, you don't need the finasteride.

It is hard to tell if some strands from the sides are making the front look fuller in the after picture than it is. The back clearly regrow some hair, which is impressive in a nearly bald area like that. Too bad you did not comb your hair backwards for the front shots. But even if I don't know how much it improved, I can say that it did thicken, which testifies that dutas is probably real.

As for the minoxidil, it should add almost twice as much hair as you have already gained. Give it 2 months to see some results, and a year to reach max. You will be in for a treat. It is powerful, but you need a DHT blocker to keep it from dropping off, and if you get off it for a week or so, you will get a huge super fast shed and return to where you are now, or rather where you would have been then without the minoxidil.

Where did you buy your dutas?

Yeah i'm not sure i've had any real growth at the front except for velus hairs that arn't visible unless examined closely under a bright light. The overall thickness of my hair is what has improved the most. I didn't comb my hair backwards for the shots as felt it showed the overall thinning better combed forwards, and was thinking combing it backwards might hide the thinning on top.

Do you think the minoxidil will have a postive effect even though i'm only using it once a day? I want to use it twice a day but it makes my hair stick together and look pretty bad in the thin areas around the front if I do.

I think the problem with dutasteride and the brain is no one knows one way or the other if it will effect your brain in the long term, does anyone know how long a patient would be perscribed this drug if it was to used for it intended purpose?

I buy my dutas from http://www.drugdelivery.ca/ they delivered it promptly and without any problems getting it past customs like some other websites i've used.

Wow!! Good going!

Why do you say "still plenty of work to be done "? :?

Cheers! Well i'm very happy with the thickening of my hair, but still dont have a very good hairline  Added the minoxidil+retin A about 3 months ago to try and help with this and although it hasnt really had the effect I hoped for I can clearly see a fair few new terminal hairs where there already is hair, but only one or 2 on the slick bald bits. Gonna give it a couple of more months then maybe go for minoxidil twice a day

2% i think. I cant see a percentage written on the bottle but it has 20mg of ketokonazole (or however its spelt) so i'm presuming its the 2% one

I've changed my mind about once a day minoxidil not having much effect as my crown has actually filled in loads since i started minoxidil... just the hairline that hasnt had much movement. I dont think I notice the crown much as I cant see it unless I use 2 mirrors, so I think my initial thoughts on once a day minoxidil were wrong as it has defo improved the crown
