a few questions... anybody have the answers?

I've been taking 1 mg generic finasteride for around 7 months now. to the untamed eye my thinning is not visable, but i just need to take my hand through once to know i've lost ALOT and i mean ALOT of density..

what i dont understand is,

1) Why in the world, since starting finasteride seven months back have i been losing hair from the nape (back hairline) of my neck?.. thats 7 months that i've been losing hair from this region. everytime i tug right at the bottom or even slightly above it, i'll end up with 2-3 hair. the same applies to my sideburns.. they're vanishing slowly, and everytime i tug i end up with 2-3 hair.

2) why is this hair so "fine" and weak looking? i thought the back and sides were the "safe regions" and if anything would be the 'last' to go. in my case it would *Seem* as if i had a full head of hair at the moment...but when wet i simply cant style it anymore no matter what i do..

3) the hair all over my head seems really thin.. i have miniturization ALL over! there is no such thing as any zone on my head where hair is "thicker" in diameter than the rest...


is there ANYBODY at all out there whos also losing hair from the back , nape and sideburns? or is it just me! ..nobody else seems to be losing hair from this region at all.

it is possible to lose hair from all parts of your head.

there is not really a "safe zone' but it's a lot less likely to lose hair where your losing it.

Why are you pulling your hairs out? you allready know that hair is falling out, so why do you keep doing it, your just tormenting yourself. Just leave it for a while, and see what happens.By the way I have that aswell, but I just leave it alone, and the problem will disapear,maybe these areas are thin because youve plucked them silly.

I do the same thing. I can't help but tug on the sides of my head and look to see if anything came out.

or i'll scratch my head over a white piece of paper to see them fall.

I guess they were going to fall out anyway.

I don't know why i'm such a panzy about this sh*t..

my head is big, my skin is oily. so i'm afraid i'm going to look retarded with a buzz cut.

since i'm still fairly young, it's not acceptable for my hair to be/look this thin.. so i'm torn between leaving it long and cutting it short.

my g/f is supportive and she says she'll love me no matter what.. but it isnt about her. its' about me. I'm losing my apperance and its hard b/c i'm so self concious.

I don't need a bunch of people telling me a i'm a baby about it. i know i am. and i'm on lexapro and i talk in therapy.. I'm just a basket case..

have you ever been to http://www.baldrus.com before?? go and check out the gallery, theres shitloads of bald guys in there with differnt shaped heads,I personally think a big head is excellent for sahving, its better than having a small head.
Why dont you just buzz it down to a blade 2, then if you like it, down to a 1, youll be suprised, I was when I did it., from doing this youll be able to apply minoxidal a lot easier, and you wont threat about it when you look in the mirror,
You say you feel you are losing your youth? well f*** me man, im 21, and Ive always had sh*t hair, I dont think my youth even began.
Just keep your chin up, get off your computer, (because I can tell its mentally destroying you, and you need to go do something productive), but before you do anything just go check out that site i mentioned, i bet your thinking bollocks to that, but just give it a go.

it doesnt matter if i 'pull' or tug.. its not about tormeting myself really, since the hairs already in telogen and will fall out when i shampoo or whatever. its just i dont understand.. i've been shedding ALOT of hair since almost 4 years now. used to clog the sink on and off and yet there was absolutely no sign of thinning. then last year in summers right after my exams i lost alot of hair and i noticed i couldnt style it anymore. i have really really weird frizzy hair. if i just shampoo and use no product it'll turn into some sort of afro. no conditioner or frizz control etc will help so i always use hairgum/hairspray. then when it dries i comb through and my hairs fine..

but now, with every passing day i cant style my hair, cause the second i put on a little hairspray, my hair just STICKS to my head in this sick manner. theres no rise and fall , its just stuck to my scalp...so i know i've lost ALOT of volume. but still theres no bald spot..

and my sideburns have gone see through.. they used to be really thick, and now my nape area has been hit, AGAIN you cant "see" the difference, but i'd say i've lost about 40 % density in that region since starting finasteride, and thats just plain weird. some of the hair i pull out from the nape is so thin i cant see it. I was sitting here just now, and every single time i pulled on 5 hair, i ended up with 1. i did this for 15 minutes to check. i still keep ending up with hair everytime i tug from both the sideburns and nape.

i'm still losing the usual 60-70 hair a day. and the worst bit is, since it took 4 years for my thinning to show AND its diffuse, its gonna take time before this thinning shows up too so its driving me crazy!..

anybody else here whos lost hair from the nape area like this?.. my TSH is at 4.3 (4.6 being the upper limit) .. so its slightly high.. but now my free T4 has gone up too... 23.6 (24.0 being the upper limit) .. so i cant make head or tails of it.

hate to say this as i can sense that u're expecting replies of ppl telling you that you have Telogen Effluvium instead.

I'm live in Asia and the majority of ppl who bald here don't fllow the Norwood pattern of balding. believe it or not, alot of the guys i see bald on the Ludwig scale (FPB). I'm just surprised how the world is so outdated with hairloss. this Norwood dude must've spent his whole life in the states cause if he just stepped overseas and checked out the other ppl in the world he would notice we all bald differently. There's no clear cut way of baldng. I believe everyone balds in a way from a scale where Ludwig fashion balding is on one side of the scale, while Norwood is on the other. There's a little mix and match. I've seen some ppl totally on one side of the scale, others in between and others following the classical male pattern baldness.

i'm right on the Ludwig side where i have a widows peak and a 5mm recession (i know cause i have a small mole on my hairline), while the hair density has gone to the shitters. yes, my sides and back are thinning as well. i do wish it is Telogen Effluvium, but then i see too many ppl here in asia with pure diffuse thinning to know that all-over thinning does NOT equal Telogen Effluvium.

i hope his helped. mightbe better to know it now before its too late.
