Hi folks.....i have been researching hairloss for the past 2 weks and some things are still a bit unclear to me...I would begrateful if you could reply!!!

I have thinning hair....not noticable to other people but i defo ntice it...so i have decided to go on proscar.....i ordered it last week...should gt it this week.....

So first of all...
1....should i start off witha smaller dose like .7 and stick it for a yearand then increae slightly every year to lengthen the effect or is this just a myth?

2....Do people who dont have heredity baldness have less DHT in the first place and if you got ur DHT levels same as theirs would you have conquered most of the problem?

3....Why do some hair have white bulbs at the end and some dont?

4....are people too negative about the effects of proscar on this board? cos some of the stuff is scary!!!

Rhanks for your replies

1. Myth. I guarentee you wont see any clinical data showing this. If anything, start strong and work down.

2. No. People who never develop male pattern baldness can have high levels of DHT. Their follicles are simply not DHT sensitive, just like the ones on the sides of our heads.

3. I think this is sebum. Oils clogging the pores. Best to clean this stuff out with nizoral.

4. What side effects? ;)

Good advice from flux!

No need to increase dosage, start as you mean to go on. And a very small dose of finast is effective.

As flux says, male pattern baldness is due to hair follicle sensitivity (genetic) not due to abnormally high levels of dht.

Lastly, i'd recommend minoxidil 5% (Kirkland is working great for me).
