Hi everyone, I am 24 years old and was born with a receding hairline, sadly my hair at the front just never grew in. But thats okay I learnt to hide it and as a kid my hair was pretty thick.

In the past couple of years I have been losing my hair daily, my scalp is visible in multiple spots and thanks to my receding hair.. its becoming impossible to hide.
I've been having frequent doctor visits and will be seeking further help, but it feels very limited here in the uk.

With covid 19 messing with my job im lucky to cover my mortgage, but at the same time I am so desperate and self conscious about my hair, I dont know what else to do. Anything to do with hair seems to cost an arm and a leg.

I have started a gofundme page in hopes that someone may be able to help, as much as i hate to ask, could you please help fund towards a hair transplant for my horrible receded hairline or at least towards a human hair wig?

Thank you so much for reading

Have you seen a doctor about this? Have you had a blood test?

I've had several blood tests, the receded hairline is genetic, i think my dads was similar but he had a thick head of hair so hid it well.
I just feel like a bundle of bad genes, my mum has very fair thin hair and has diffuse alopecia, my hair is thinning now too and I am currently in the process of figuring out the next best route.

If you are thinning diffusely, a hair transplant may not be the best option long-term (I’m not an expert, though). Are you on any treatments (antiandrogens, minoxidil...)? Minoxidil is not expensive, and it could get you some regrowth and improve your temples. But I think you should be on an antiandrogen as well. Or have you abandoned the idea of treatments and do you want to go the wig route? Is it not possible to get it covered by the NHS?
I’m sorry you have to go through this at a young age. I’m also a woman with genetic diffuse hair loss, currently doing well on treatments.

I thought this too, i have reached out to a hair transplant clinic to see of it would be something that would be possible, as I never lost hair at the front, i was just born without hair ever growing there. I was hopeful that this would be my saving grace and allow the hair transplant to work in combination with minoxidil. I have been using minoxidil for a while, although i have seen little improvement, i still do not have enough hair to not go out without a hair topper. Ive seen the gents talk about something called finasteride but sounds a little scary ro me. I've also been looking into wigs too, but human hair wigs seem awfully expensive, I've bought so many synthetic ones only to be disappointed. I have red hair and synthetic wigs just scream 'fake'.

At the moment I have a clip in hair topper every day. Whilst it looks convincing enough, but it actually makes the situation worse as the clips rip my hair out overtime. I'm just at a complete loss, as far as treatments from the NHS go, it is very limited with the likes of minoxidil and steroid injections anything more is treated as cosmetic, they have given me other suggestions for clinics to go book my self into.

I am so sorry to hear you are going through this too. Whilst I am glad to hear I am not alone this it also saddens me that other people suffer too. I wish hair loss was something people could be more open about and comfortable with.

Look on Etsy.
There are plenty of human hair wigs on there, including red hair wigs and are pretty affordable like £80.

Also MG Ford if you want a hair system full cap wig for long term wear.
