A year on finasteride

Was using minoxidil and Nizoral for 3 or 4 years. Decided to try finasteride consistently.
Ordered in March 2015, Finax branded 1mg tablets taking 1/4 a day, so .25mg per day. Continued this until switching to Finast branded 5mg tablets, taking 1.25mg a day from October onwards to present.
I was using Kirkland liquid minoxidil most of last year but developed SEVERE scalp itch. I thought it was just a side of balding so i carried on until it got unbearable. Literally itched like mad, eating spicy food made it worse. Bought Kirkland foam and used for a month around November, realised it got rid of the itching. So from around Jan this year i switched to Foligan minoxidil 5% foam and have used that since. Sanity restored.

Progress wise i don't see much really, but it hasnt seemed to have got any worse.

20th April 2015 after haircut:

Seems like you definitely maintained, how old are you? When you began that minoxidil itch did you notice any dandruff?

No dandruff, just insane itching. Scratching made it much, much worse. Will never go back to any liquid based minoxidil ever again

I find this thread very helpful for those who have issues with lotions. I do tend to have a very sensitive skin, too. That's the reason I've never tried minoxidil. I think it's time to try the foam, as I do cut my hair short and it should be easy to apply.

And yes, indeed you've maintained, good luck, and I hope the foam will give you a boost in density.

Good results!
However I prefer the shorter look if I may.

You have indeed maintained your hair status.
If I may, however, make a suggestion: I would suggest switching over to dutasteride for increased results. Seeing as dutasteride is more potent and stays in your system for about 10 weeks, it would be better for your hormonal system and indeed would increase the hair count.

I'll give finasteride another year first. If hair gets worse i'll consider more drastic measures
