I am 21 years old and recently started taking finasteride (July 23). I am at the Norwood 2 level on the Norwood Scale. I am taking .5 mg a day. Anyways like 4 days ago my acne started to become worse on my forehead. I didn't have much acne before, but always have had a little. Their is more acne than usual (though it is mild). Is this common for acne to worsen? Should i expect it to get better? Has anybody had this happen before and the acne gotten better? And if so how long did it take?

Thanks

Occasional acne outbreak is normal. It's caused by unstable hormone levels. Never lasted longer than a week or so for me.

I've never taken hair loss meds, but to deal with acne in general I use Benzoyl Peroxide. It's the only thing I've found that keeps my skin clear. You can buy 2.5% doses over the counter. Just rub it on your spots and it should get rid of them.

I had a massive outbreak of acne as well after one week finasteride. From 16-18 I suffered from quite some acne but after the age of 18 it all cleared up. After one week of finasteride I noticed that I suddenly had several outbreaks which I tend to relate to my finasteride in take as nothing else changed in my diet/life.

(for the record, I quit finasteride; not due to severe side effects, just because I could not live with the fear of permanent side effects and felit medicated all the time)
