Hi all been to see a hairloss specialist about a hair transplant(at the back of my head vortex? and my temples). He advised me that i cant have a transplant at the back of my head because i still have hair there, apparently while ever there is hair there, hair cant be transplanted. He advised me Finasteride was the way to go and then a transplant in my temples. I told him my reservations about Finasteride side effects etc, he dismissed it and was very positive about the drug, says it only effects around2% of people. What im asking is have i read to much of the wrong stuff, (all i seem to find is negative write ups), or is it only a small percentage of people that suffer. Im only in the early stages of thining, is there other options i can try first. Any advise natural or not thank you.

You should follow the advice that you were given. Start taking finasteride and if you get sides then you can simply stop taking it. You need to try and stabilize your hair loss long-term since you are planning to get a hair transplant. You should consider yourself lucky if all you need are temple fillings.

Jaka do you take finasteride, i was full of hope for trying it, but loads of people say they tried it for 7 months to a year and stopped but were unable to reverse the side effects. It seems more people react badly to the drug than dont.

I've been taking it for 3 years now. No sides. It stabilized my hair. It's rare for sides to persist after stopping. Most people that respond to finasteride won't come to a hair loss site so the stories you hear will be lopsided.

I did think that, same when people purchase something they only tend to leave a review if its crap. Have you not had any sides at all then and have you had any regrowth? If you dont mind me asking what dose do you take? Sorry for all the questions but i havnt spoke to anybody saying positive things about it lol

I did get some growth but it was minor. My hair is thicker than before so I have better coverage overall. Libido is the same. I was worried like you and I told myself that I would stop if I got any sides.

I am careful about reading the negative stuff. You don't want to start taking it and internalizing other people's experiences. Just have a realistic view and with any medication be aware of any changes. If something concerns you then see your doctor for a checkup.

You're welcome. Good luck with the treatment and transplant.
