I don't know exactly how much my hairline has changed over the years because I don't have many pics from when I was younger. What Norwood stage am I at currently? I do have a few pics from 10+ years ago (can't post them) that I can compare to the following pics; it is hard to say for sure because my hair in those pics wasn't as short as it is here, but comparing them to these, it appears not to have changed much. But I have a hard time believing my hairline around my temples looked like it does now. To me it looks like the area around the temples is receding. There doesn't seem to be any thinning anywhere, just the temples area looks weird to me. I just really hate how my hairline looks and I don't want it to get worse. What should I do?

Looks similar to mine, tbh.

Looks like you have clear recession on one temple and some diffuse thinning going on.

I wouldn't say your situation is bad, especially for your age. So don't freak out about it.

What exactly is "diffuse thinning?" What should I do right now? Finasteride?

You have a loss of density and thickness on the scalp, but it doesn't look severe at all.

Finasteride is an option. Discuss it with your doctor.

Ok, so diffuse thinning isn't permanent? I just looked it up.

Diffuse thinners tend to respond well to 5AR inhibitors like Finasteride.

You look like you're catching your hair loss early, so assuming you can tolerate Finasteride, you'll likely see some regrowth.

Whether it becomes "permanent" depends on how soon you treat it.

Can diffuse thinning be brought on by stress? I'm 4 months into a bad breakup.

A Doctor can tell you whether or not it's related to male pattern baldness, but it likely is.

At 33, many men have more hair loss than that, you're just noticing it.

As I said, my hair is about the same and I'm 32, unfortunately I don't tolerate Finasteride well.

What kind of side effects have you experienced with finasteride? And if I don't take it, how long until I'm full on bald/Norwood 7?

It’s not diffuse thinning, it just looks like that because he has angled his head directly toward the camera. Anyone with hair this short will be able to see their scalp. As for the hairline, I wouldn’t worry about it. There doesn’t look to be any active balding going on. I can’t tell for sure though, close up pictures are much more helpful.

If you normally keep your hair short like that, it would be so easy and convenient to use minoxidil foam, dermarolling, and other topical treatments.
