Hi, my name is Aidan and i am 20 years old. I started losing hair from the front of my head at around 17 and now have a very recessionary hairline and general thinning on the top of my head. I can still cover it up almost but am considering treatment, such as Propecia plus Minoxidil. Please can anyone advise me about the chance of maintaining what I have, plus thickening up the hair on the top of my head, using a treatment like this. Also, what are people's thoughts about the supposed side effects of Propecia? Thanks.

Side effects on finasteride are very rare, but even so, if you are one of the unlucky few who do get them, you can always stop using the finasteride - nobody to my knowledge has reported permanent damage from using it.
I was in a similar boat to you 4 months ago, when I started using my regimen, and I think minoxidil is instrumental to achieving modest regrowth on my hairline and temples. My hairline in general looks a bit thicker. Do a proper forum search on minoxidil in particular, though, as there are commitment issues associated with using it which should be very carefully weighed up against any regrowth gains you can expect.

20 yrs old, hair had been falling slightly since 17 but thought it was normal, but lately i can see it thinning at the front so i started 1/6th proscar every other day, been on it about a month so far no side effects, it takes about 3 months for it to effect the hair so still waiting
