I recently stopped using Minoxidil because of side effects (chest pain and breathing problems) and picked up Tricomin again while I research other possible treatments. What I've noticed, though, is that I get some similar side effects when using Tricomin alone -- I get this weird feeling in my chest, especially when I take a deep breath.

I know this must sound crazy or paranoid, but I've tested it out by dropping and starting up Tricomin on and off over the past two weeks. I'm pretty positive it's not in my head.

I haven't read anything about Tricomin side effects anywhere, so that got me thinking -- maybe there's an ingredient common to both Tricomin and most minoxidil products that I'm allergic to.

What do you guys think? Is this possible? Just from a quick glance at the Tricomin and Rogaine Foam labels, I found the following common ingredients:

SD Alcohol 40B, Polysorbate 60, and Citric Acid.

There could be more ingredients that aren't listed directly on the bottle, but I thought I'd start with this. What do you guys think? Is there some possible allergic reaction going on here?

There is citric acid in orange juice and a lot of other fruits and fruit juice products. You'd know if you have a problem with this molecule.

The other two:

SD Alcohol 40B

Polysorbate 60

Found some information on this one, but with regards to Polysorbate 80 and its influence on hair growth. I didn't find anything on polysorbate 60. Polysorbate 80 can cause the release of histamine. If you have asthma, that could be a problem. It can also cause a rash.

The 60 behind it means that is has a monostearate fatty acid associated with the polyoxyethylene and the 80 means that it has a monooleate instead of a monostearate.

Thanks for the response Docj. And, yeah, I pretty much nixed the citric acid as a possibility.

Do you know (or anyone else for that matter) anything about Propylene Glycol? I only ask because I know Dr. Lee (http://www.minoxidil.com) offers a minoxidil solution without Propylene Glycol, because many people are allergic to it. This is probably a really stupid question, but is there any relation between Propylene Glycol and the two chemicals I mentioned above?

The only thing, though, is that Tricomin doesn't include Propylene Glycol as one of its ingredients, so now I'm just getting really confused....I can't seem to find a common factor.

And, no, I don't have asthma.
