Hallo
thank you for your e-mail.
We don't have made studies about the use of Alpecin After Shampoo
Liquid combined with pharmaceutical products containing minoxidil.
The Zink-Content in After Shampoo Liquid is much lower than in a
shampoo containing 1% Zn-Pyrithione.
Although we don't think that there should result bigger problems, we
don't recommend the simultaneous use of Alpecin After Shampoo Liquid and
Minoxidil.

We advise Alpecin Coffein- Shampoo C1 combined with Alpecin After
Shampoo Liquid.

Of course I do testo, I too think you should not risk it. Minoxidil's growth potential is surely much greater than caffeine's.

You could try adding caffeine tabs in your regular shampoo bottle. Hair_tomorrow is currently giving it a shot.

That was my first thought too - adding caffeine to my ozbrew. Then I got concerned about the % of concentration and the "leaving it on" aspect versus the "apply and rinse out" aspect.

So - just to be on the safe side, I caffeineted my shampoo and ACV instead. The shampoos I might leave on for 5 - 10 minutes before rinsing out, and the ACV for 1 minute.

Bumpingup the Alpecin thread.

Anyone using this stuff?

BTW for the DIY'ers here is a useful link (transcript of a couple of emails between a poster called Chrome from HLH.com and Prof. Elsner who carried out the caffeine trials vis a vis hairloss) about the amount of caffeine you should or should not be adding to your own solutions, which I attach for your infomation:-

The use of freshly brewed coffee is not really recommmendable, because:

1.....caffeine in coffee is not dermally bioavailable as it is in the " Alpecin After Shampoo Liquid".
2.....you need for a good efficacy a sophisticated formula of synergistic compounds as they are in
.......the "Liquid".
3.....in coffee you have a lot of residues of the roasting process, that are regarded to have a very bad skin
.......tolerance.
4.....There may the risk of skin irritation, if you have permanent contact of coffee on the skin. The "After
.......Shampoo Liquid" contains highly purified caffeine with a very good skin tolerance.

I hope, this information is helpful for you.

Best regards

Hello

Unfortunately we don't have neither an Englisch abstract nor a summary. We are just going to prepare it.
In January we're going to prepare a scientific paper in a medical journal.

3% caffeine in a lotion is too much. Caffeine penetrates very quickly through the skin. So you can calculate that a 3% leave-on Lotion brings up to 6 cups of coffee into the body. This dosage may be a problem for caffeine-sensitive consumers.

In germany we have a recommendation of maximum 1% caffeine in cosmetics.

On the other hand we found in our studies, that in the hair follicle there may occur an overboost of energy, that could be toxic to the hair follicle. In this case you can find suppressive effects not stimulative effects.

The concentration of caffeine in the "Alpecin After Shampoo Liquid" is 0.2%.
The test concentration in jena has been much smaller, because in thehair-organ-cultur-modell HOCM there is no penetration barrier as it is innormal skin.

hey for the guy using alpecin after shamppo liquid...using it once everyday isnt going to do anything...the caffeine deposits itsself on the follicle for 24 hours and protects the hair...so u using it once every 48 hours isnt really going to help..read the FAQ on their website
