Hello everyone,

my name is Jakub, I'm 25 years old and I'm new member here but I've been lurking a lot since few months, yesterday I finally got my prescription for Finasteride but my doctor also prescribed me liquid called ALPICORT and I've been wondering if I should use it?

I've been using Minoxidil (5%) and Nizoral shampoo for about 5-6 months now and I finally decided to add finasteride, I'm starting to see some tiny hairs on my temples (temple area is my biggest problem) so I figured it'll be good to add finasteride to my regimen. But this Alpicort thing, I've never heard of it before and I have no idea if it's going to help with male pattern hair loss?
I was trying to find some info on the web but there's not much as well. And most info I found was mainly about women hair loss.

So yeah, I'd be really thankful if someone knows anything about it, it's just regular Alpicort, no Alpicort E or Alpicort F. Alpicort active ingredients are Prednisolone and Salicylic Acid.

So should I use it along with minoxidil, finasteride and Nizoral or not? I really wouldn't like to mess up my hair more using it... some people experienced some shedding using it (that's also interesting because I've never had any massive shedding, I'll write more about once I start finasteride and make a thread).

If you need more info to answer my question let me know please.

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this question but I had no idea where to post it, I want to get my Finasteride on Monday and I have Alpicort on the same prescription so I need to know if I should buy it or not.

Thank you very much for looking!

When I went to my doctor I just asked about Finasteride, she asked me if I'm using any liquids on my scalp directly, I told her that I'm using Minoxidil and she said that Alpicort helps with male pattern baldness too, I just thought it's some liquid DHT blocker or something like that (and to be honest - I was excited about getting prescription for Finasteride), I guess I just have asked her these questions instead of asking here but yeah, as I said - I just took it and then I checked what it is Google and I'm just not sure if I should use it.

I guess I'll pass on it and stick with Minoxidil, finasteride and Nizoral for now.

Inflammation plays a crucial role in male pattern baldness, so the prednisolone in alpicort can help with that, but its a corticosteroid so you can't use it in the long run because it has some nasty side effects. Search whaevr's thread, he had an amazing recovey on alpicort.

Oh I see, I didn't notice it before!

But it's different Alpicort, it has "F" in the name and now I checked - this one should be prescribed for male pattern baldness, not regular Alpicort - the one I got. So I think I'll pass on the regular one and ask my doctor for Alpicort F next time. Thanks for your help!

Alpicort F contains estradiol which acts like an anti-androgen, whaevr ditched finasteride because he had sides. You on the other hand got prescribed finasteride and if you don't have sides you already have an anti-androgen in your regimen, so using the version which contains estradiol seems a little overkill. I'll try ordering myself the normal version of alpicort and see how it goes, lets keep in touch.
