Almost 27 year old male. Noticed recession at age 21. Have been on finasteride since age 22 or 23 and have experienced minimal loss since then.

Wondering if I would be a candidate for a hair transplant, either FUE or FUT.

Yes you are a good candidate for a hair transplant, your hair looks thick, looking at the pictures your hair looks perfect but I guess you are looking to lower the temples a bit? do some research and consult with a good Dr and you are good to go, but your hair looks really good, a lot of guys here would kill to have your hair, good luck.

You have great hair, why risk it for a transplant that may or may not turn out how you expect? A lot of things can go wrong with a transplant. You won't have close to your native density either so something will look off regardless.

I think you need to educate yourself much more about transplants before making a decision.

You have a fantastic head of hair. It baffles me that you're even considering a hair transplant!

I had slightly higher hairline prior to my hair transplant and unless you can get amazing density its not worth it. Probs take 2 procedures with a very good doctor, mine looks worse now than it did before.

I would keep your hair as is it looks good. You could always style it flatter or have it short with a short fringe if its really bothering you.

Thanks for all the replies guys! And thank you for complimenting my hair. The type of hair I have accentuates the loss I've experienced at my temples and hairline. It's frustrating but I realize I am lucky to have the hair I do.

Getting a transplant is frightening to me especially with the variability of results. I would just really like to restore just a little of what I had, but most likely not worth the cost/worry/hassle. Thank you for your opinions, I do appreciate it.

Your hair is similar to mine at your age (I ended up with a transplant at age 47). You are doing the right thing taking notice of it early as opposed to denial.
It may be nothing compared to many, but I feel your pain. Perhaps you could consider stepping up your regime to aim for some minimal gain rather than just maintaining with Finasteride alone? Have a read thru the posts on dermarolling/microneedling if you have not already. At your age, you may just have some potential of gaining some ground.

They can't match the density you have, so the simple answer is no (it's too soon).

I've been on and off with both minoxidil and dermarolling. I haven't been consistent, so that will be my next step. I would love to see if those two applications can help in anyway. I will say I am a little skeptical, but obviously need to try it out for an extended period of time.

Thank you for your reply, I appreciate it.
