Am I At Nw2 Yet? Is This The Best Time To Try finasteride Or Should I Stick With Rogaine?

So my hair is receding and thinning on top. About 10 months ago I was full NW0 or NW1 with no loss but then all of a sudden i started losing hairs on top and on the temples. As of right now my left temple receded a lot and looks to be going to NW2 within the next 1 or 2 months. Im currently on rogaine for the hairline for 4 months and I feel like its not doing jack sh*t but after taking these pics it looks like it might be working on the right side to maintain possibly but the left side keeps getting worse on a weekly basis. My question is, is this a good time to use finasteride or should I wait until it gets more noticeable? Also, have any of you had hairline growth from rogaine or am I just being too hopeful?I have definitely started thinning on top too and my family history of hair loss is hilariously bad. Also, could this be a possibility of mature hairline or is it definitely balding?

Any advice?

You have good hair.

In my opinion, it would be very idiotic not to take Finasteride.

Unfortunately, if you really do suffer from androgen alopecia, you will probably
lost most of your Minoxidil gains within five to ten years.

That is, if you even respond well to Minoxidil in the first place.

Starting with minoxidil at that stage is a bad idea. This is because you will inevitably end up taking finasteride when it gets worse as minoxidil will only work by itself for a limited amount of time. After a year you will start losing your gains and then you're stuck taking it forever. If you start finasteride now you can add minoxidil in 6 months or so if you're still not happy.

Start finasteride now if you want to keep what you have.

I have a prescription but its just the idea of taking finasteride for life that bothers me a lot. I get what youre saying though, clearly this is going to get much worse in a few months. I dont know how I feel about taking a hormone altering drug for the rest of my life as im only 20 right now.
