Am I Balding Or Is This Just My Cowlick?

Hey there, 20 year old male here.

I have always had a large hair whorl/cowlick on my crown and so the scalp area there appears to be quite prominent. Recently I shaved my hair out and it is slowly growing back again, however I noticed that my hair whorl looked quite large. I was wondering if this was due to the short hair which didn't cover up the whorl or am I balding? Pictures below.

Would like to add that my hair has been fine/thin all my life, so I didn't really notice any additional thinning of any sort.

I have an appointment scheduled a week from now. May I know how can I tell if it's really thinning on the crown or if it's just a cowlick?

What makes you say so? The sparse, scalp showing area really worries me a lot and I'm waiting for my hair to grow longer so I can assess whether it's hair loss.

Just went to see a dermatologist, apparently I have some form of scalp irritation as she spotted some redness on my scalp. I got some anti fungal shampoo along with some anti inflammation scalp spray, will update here in a few months time.
