Currently worried about going bald. There isn’t a strong presence of premature baldness in my family, for both my grandfathers still have their hair. However, my father went bald fairly early in his 20s, but he presumed it was due to the strong allergy medication he took for much of his life.(antihistamines) His brother is close to 50 and had a full head of hair.

Yes it's pretty bad. You should pray Lord Brotzu. 3 times a day.

I am joking. You have nothing bro. And when you will be bald (in 10+ years), there will be a cure for you (that we don't have now).

Wrong section. But I'll answer. You might be, or you might not. You do have recession at the temples. But this is still within the bounds of a maturing hairline. It would have been easier to determine if the situation was the reverse - if your temples were filled in and dense, then you would be strongly predisposed to keep your hair. But since the mechanism of loss at the temples is the same as that of male pattern baldness - progressive miniaturization of hair until the complete shut down of the follicle - you are essentially left wondering whether or not it will continue up your scalp. The answer is that it is not yet obvious. You will probably know by the time you are 22 or so. Or maybe it will speed up at 30. Or 40. Who knows?

But no, you aren't in the clear given those temples. These are the types of people who are more obviously resistant, especially if you take their age into account:

Keep an eye on it, but don't obsess. Hair loss is slow enough that you will know for sure if and when it is happening. For now, forget about it and get on with your life. If anything, use this awareness as motivation to cherish your hair while you have it. Experiment with different styles. Have fun. You have a few years before you really need to care - if you even have baldness to begin with. But you have to understand, hair loss is something that about 50% or more of men (and a significant portion of women, especially those with polycystic ovary syndrome and those who have reached menopause) will eventually deal with. Don't believe everything you see on T.V.

You have really nice hair and hairline! I wouldn’t worry about it at all. However, feel free to do some research on hair loss so if the day comes that you do begin balding/receding, you’ll know what to do! It’s likely you just have a maturing hairline, and it will stop where it’s at. However, if your family has a history of male pattern baldness, then there’s potential it will continue to recede. Again, my advice, do some research on Finasteride/Propecia and other treatements so that you know what’s available.

Thank you for the thoughtful response. Regarding the temples, they have been like that since I can remember. If you look at my earlier posts from a year ago there is absolutely no change. Anyways, I’ll keep an eye on it.

To be fair, male pattern baldness is progressive so in most cases you're pretty F'ed. Some people have such slow/minimal loss that a transplant by itself is a cure. But these people are certainly the exceptions, not the rule. Eg:

So it makes sense to want to know if being bald is in your future. Also each person knows his/her body best. I know I strongly suspected hair loss well before my shedding accelerated, back when people thought I was nuts for worrying.

But I do concede that the range of reactions spans from awareness to obsessive to dysmorphic. There is no denying that, either.
