Am I Going Through Male Pattern Baldness?

Hello! I'm new here. I was just wondering if I was already going bald even though I'm just 16.

I first started noticing it a few days ago when my mom mentioned that my hair on top was thinning. I thought nothing of it first but I took a picture of my head and it really was quite thin. I also noticed that I have been shedding a lot of hair lately .Ever since then I started obsessing over it and the more things I researched the more my doubts were being confirmed. At first my mom said it was because of my hair being too long but I think otherwise.

Only my cousin from my mom's side went bald so I really thought I had a low chance of it happening to me.

I'd really appreciate to hear your thoughts on my hair situation. Do you think I have male pattern baldness or am I just obsessing over nothing???

The first photo is when my hair is dry, the second is when I massaged oil on my head to help with my dandruff problem and the third one is when hair is wet.

But what would you recommend I do to prevent further hair loss and improve my situation? I really don't want to be bald before I even start college...

Finasteride is the mildest medication that has the potential to work. Anything weaker than that is pointless.

Cowlicks are janky in general especially if you have fine hair (not balding, just skinnier hair strands from birth), but wet cowlicks always look like sh*t, so I can't really tell; try with dry hair. If you want peace of mind go see a derm.

finasteride is not mild. finasteride basically cuts out the most androgenic hormone in your body by 70%. finasteride is the Gold standard when it comes to hair loss. Most get very great results, that is if you’re not too far gone with a rats nest on top of your head.
