Hey guys --

Just wanted to share this info with you in case it helps anyone out there struggling right now - I know I did for a something like 3 years, so I know what it's like (also posted this in the hair pieces section).

So I am 24 and started losing around 21, right as I graduated college. It was a tough transition - going into the working world and at the same time dealing with something that made me feel unattractive / killed my confidence - almost a double whammy. I would be lying if I didn't say I was really, really down at points.

Anyways, step 1 was to get on propecia - that really helped and deifnitely regrew some of my hair. I've been on it for all 3 years now.

Step 2 was to discover DermMatch about a year ago - I have black hair, so it works really well on both my crown and temples. This was big - there were days right after good haircuts where I felt "completely normal" / really really good, as I did before the hairloss started. It was then that I realized a big source of my confidence issues (and as a consequent ability to do well at work a bit / general happiness etc) was the hair.

Step 3 was to get a partial frontal piece (temple to temple, just in the front) a couple weeks ago. I said to myself, look - you really have struggled, and there's nothing wrong with wanting to feel good about yourself in your 20s / doing something to restore your confidence. You will have better relationships / do better in the work world / generally be happier.

So I did the measurements and ordered from an online site (PM me if you want all the info - happy to help anyone), and I cannot express enough how well it has worked - it is almost magical how seamlessly it blends in (your existing hair falls on top of it). Even my parents and best friends did not suspect and they see me every day - they just said "wow that's a really good haircut." Two weeks in, and it is just amazing how much my face feels like it's glowing, how I can feel my confidence restoring, and generally my zest for life coming back. And the maintenance is absurdly easy - you literally apply a glue called Ultra Hold once every ~2 weeks, and NEVER have to think about it - workout, sleep, shower whatever. I wake up feeling like i have a full head of hair.

Anyways, sorry for the rambling - just hope it will inspire / give hope to some of you (I know I needed it when it was bad) and also communicate just how amazing these hair pieces (coupled with Dermmatch) are these days.

Good luck to all.

you said you added dermmatch to temple areas. Did it work on vellus hairs on the temples to make them appear darker? Or did it pull them out?

I used to apply Dermmatch to the temples before getting hte piece in the front. When I did, it worked great in thickening - and didn't see any loss as a result of it or anything. Now I just apply it on the crown area - am sure eventually I'll have to upgrade to a full piece but I will hopefully be able to get by for 2-3 years at the least.

And without the piece, it's very differently - my hairline's quite significantly receded.

I'm wondering about the barber thing too.

I wouldn't say this is a success story really, more like a last ditch effort for when things get too bad.

Afraid I'm gonna have to go the wig route for my last hail mary in a few years.

Guys sorry to be rude but, it's not a success story. It's not hair, it's hiding the problem: AAG is a a psychological problem (your health is not directly impacted by the effect of losing your hair) which can be solved only by having REAL hair on your head and "feeling normal" again, being proud of your face

Using magic tricks like this is not the solution for a majority of people

yes but at least it makes him feel good and confidence ...so he can comfortably wait for next good treatment ..and the good news is no one notice if it real or not , every one just say it is a nice hair ..

Success is measured differently and for difrerent people.

This is success - in a different form.

He succeeded in addressing his problem. The guy is more confident and much happier, I'd say that's a success.

Doesn't the applied glue on your scalp for 2 long weeks blocked the follicles making it worse for your natural hair to sprout?
