My favourite anti-oxidants (sh*t I am becoming boring)
Alpha-Lopic-Acid.
unlike your avarage fat or water souluble anti-oxidant this pretty much gets into all your tissues as well as recycling other anti-oxidants, so instead of that C or E you just popped stripping off an electron and then being pissed out, ALA recycles it so it can go off and have another go!!, but watch out all you biotin popping shineheads this baby competes with Biotin for receptor sites so you will notice that people like LifeExtension stick 2500mcg of Biotin in with their 200mg product. I would say this would be a good guide for supplimenting extra biotin if you are taking 200mg of Alpha-lipoic-Acid without biotin, but I take 100mg a day (200mg cap split) so I don't worry too much about the biotin thing. It has a short half life so split your dose in half and have it at breakfast and dinner, It is also the most expensive suppliment I have ever parted with cash for, £29.00 for 200mg x 50 :freaked2: , I have also never in my life smelt anything so foul as a bottle of freshly opened Alpha-Lipoic-Acid, stick your nose in and try it, un-f*****g-believable.
Meletonin.
One big mofo' anti-oxidant punch, best anti-oxidant for your brain as it easily passes the blood brain barrier, good for skin, make you mucho sleepy, well tolerated with wide range of dose, dependant on the person, I have stuck 20mg down my neck, woke up with a slight headache.
Vitamin C.
I take 3-4000mg (3-4g) a day, if you got the extra cash get the more bio-available 'ester' type, all though being skint, I just use Ascorbic Acid as it is cheap as salt. try to take some vitamin E with your C as it mops up some of the free radicals that C gives off (yes thats right an anti-oxidant giving off freeradialcs!!!!!, but not that much).
Vitamin E.
I take around 1000 iu a day, try not to go over 1200 iu as at this level E starts to compete with (now I think I have got this next bit right?!?!) vitamin K (I think it is K??) anyhow 400 iu is plenty. If you are using the slightly less bio-avalible (and cheaper) soya bean oil/geatine shell sort, take it with a little bit of fat (I stick some cheese in the mix) to help your body absorb it, or if you have any kind of class get the 'real deal' water soluable vitamin E.
Brocolli, garlic and onions also all good for AAs and first dates, also calorie restriction (obviously), green tea and finally my anti-oxidant tip of the week, stop breathing.
