Which is considered to be the best antioxidant

Grape Seed Extract
Green Tea Extract
Alpha Lipoic Acid
Q10 enzyme.

I can only afford one of these and notice only a very few take more than one of them. I need the most bang for the buck.

Lizzad recommended Alpha Lipoic Acid to me. I take Green tea as well though as the drink not the supplement. Grape seed extract may be a good choice...never heard of Q10 enzyme.

Just read a site from a doctor who said Alpha is the best because it is soluble in both fat and water, unlike the others....

I think that reputable scientists will tell you that there is no single antioxidant that is BEST. Most recommend an array including the ones above, Vit C and E etc.

Frankly, I take many and certainly GSE and Alpha Lipoic Acid have their fans among scientists.

I presume your going to take it orally? (i`ll need to try that line on a girl sometime BTW). Some guys have been trying out ALA in topicals along with glucosamine and distilled water and other stuff that i cant remember.

My favourite anti-oxidants (sh*t I am becoming boring)

Alpha-Lopic-Acid.

unlike your avarage fat or water souluble anti-oxidant this pretty much gets into all your tissues as well as recycling other anti-oxidants, so instead of that C or E you just popped stripping off an electron and then being pissed out, ALA recycles it so it can go off and have another go!!, but watch out all you biotin popping shineheads this baby competes with Biotin for receptor sites so you will notice that people like LifeExtension stick 2500mcg of Biotin in with their 200mg product. I would say this would be a good guide for supplimenting extra biotin if you are taking 200mg of Alpha-lipoic-Acid without biotin, but I take 100mg a day (200mg cap split) so I don't worry too much about the biotin thing. It has a short half life so split your dose in half and have it at breakfast and dinner, It is also the most expensive suppliment I have ever parted with cash for, £29.00 for 200mg x 50 :freaked2: , I have also never in my life smelt anything so foul as a bottle of freshly opened Alpha-Lipoic-Acid, stick your nose in and try it, un-f*****g-believable.

Meletonin.

One big mofo' anti-oxidant punch, best anti-oxidant for your brain as it easily passes the blood brain barrier, good for skin, make you mucho sleepy, well tolerated with wide range of dose, dependant on the person, I have stuck 20mg down my neck, woke up with a slight headache.

Vitamin C.

I take 3-4000mg (3-4g) a day, if you got the extra cash get the more bio-available 'ester' type, all though being skint, I just use Ascorbic Acid as it is cheap as salt. try to take some vitamin E with your C as it mops up some of the free radicals that C gives off (yes thats right an anti-oxidant giving off freeradialcs!!!!!, but not that much).

Vitamin E.

I take around 1000 iu a day, try not to go over 1200 iu as at this level E starts to compete with (now I think I have got this next bit right?!?!) vitamin K (I think it is K??) anyhow 400 iu is plenty. If you are using the slightly less bio-avalible (and cheaper) soya bean oil/geatine shell sort, take it with a little bit of fat (I stick some cheese in the mix) to help your body absorb it, or if you have any kind of class get the 'real deal' water soluable vitamin E.

Brocolli, garlic and onions also all good for AAs and first dates, also calorie restriction (obviously), green tea and finally my anti-oxidant tip of the week, stop breathing.

Broccoli and Garlic give me nasty farts....

I saw a supplement on the net that contained every antioxidant known to man in good quantities but it was like $48 for a bottle of 60 tabs, funk that.

We are having good flow here towards ALA....

Q10 is supposed to be the mother of all ant-oxs(according to people in the supp field.....ex Dr Weir)

But Grapeseed come is second( Dr Weir as well)

Grapeseed is much cheaper, and if you work out, GS is good for cardiovasculAr as well. Much cheaper than Q10.

I always wait until Walgreens has a buy one get one free sale and buy all of my supps at one time.

Dr Weil is that bald guy with the massive beard that you see on TV all the time.

I love supps, but supss will not make or break you male pattern baldness treatments, so don't go over board. From what I have read, Biotin is the way to go for male pattern baldness.

Lester Packard thinks alpha lipoic acid is the alpha and omega.

I think ALA is the best out & out anti-oxidant, but certainly grapeseed, Q10, green tea etc. have their own special benefits.

ALA along with being water & fat soluble, also recycles vit e + vit c. in addition, it mimics insulin at high dosages 3g/d which is useful for gym ratz & ppl wanting to get in shape. ALA is also a great liver detoxifyer, for you heavy drinkiers out there, or ppl on certain medications etc.

i was taking grape seed extract for a couple months, but then i developed an ulcer and the grape seed extract was making the situation worse because it lowers with my white blood cell count and didn't allow for my ulcer to clot properly. but it's funny, i was actually getting positive results while taking it, and things went to sh*t afterwards. oh well
