Any Effect (good/bad) of mild-moderate aerobic exercise??

Hi folks...
Just had a generic question...I was spending about 15 mins on the treadmill (just enough to produce sweat on my scalp) everyday for the last year thinking it was good for my dandruff and hair loss....now i have started propecia and it is definitely reduced my fall...but i also read of a lot of confusing posts on the effect of exercise (aerobic) on hair...Is there someone out there who actually saw that it benefited / increased their hair loss.....I know exercise n general is good for the body and health...but anyone know of its specific effect on hair health???

Appreciate any help in this/ comments... :jump:

Ok....i know that its scary to suggest ppl here that exercise is bad in any way....but there is actually a study out there that suggests rise in DHT levels due to aerobic exercise (in middle age to older men though)...
(unfortunately i chose to read this amongst other liks that say otherwise)

Personally, I like to exercise and still do...the daily sweating gets my powdery dandruff cleared out....but seems to make my hair thinner in diameter right after the workout...i dunno if I am being hyper or something...but wanted some honest opinions if anyone has any...
Please understand that when hair is all over your mind...you try to judge evrything you do and be careful in all that u do/use/eat/apply etc...

the way i see it DHT is actually good and essential for a male body for various functions (not to mention sexual ones) ....and yet here we are killing it with propecia etc....so isnt it possible that exercise gives ur body more testo/DHT assuming that it is good for ur body??....i understand your concern...but its an honest question...

Exercise is good for the body and mind and in some ways good for the hair. It increases insulin sensitivity. I f you have male pattern baldness, you are going to bald whether you exercise or not, so you might as well not be the fat bald guy.

Use finasteride to control dht.

BTW, the notion that you hair suddenly becomes thiner after you exercise is rediculous.

I saw improvement while I used to work out/lifting weights/aerobic exercices. So this is a job to MythBusters :punk:

This is a well disputed area and there are no empirical studies that confirm anything. At least I haven't fount anything.

First you have to separate the people with baldness gene and those who dont have it.
The ones without the gene is of course safe, so this is what I think of exercise related to balding.

Aerobic exercise is good for you, thats pronto. It does induce some stress hormones that could be bad, but it would be really over dramatic to say that is has much effect on your balding.

The only question is about weight training, that produces a spike of testo, that again spikes dht leves. but this is only a 30-45min spike. If this is enough to cause damage, I really dont know. But as long as you're on some kind of treatment you should be fine, and if you are not, I really dont think your balding rate is going to go to hypergear, maybe just bald a little faster. But again nobody really knows. Many bodybuilders are on finasteride, and many of them have their hair. Steroid users often us spironolactone when then are on the "meds". I have actually read many positive comments about Dr. Proctor on bodybuilding sites, so I think his Proxiphen treatment is popular among bodybuilders.

Exercise is good for your mind and maybe a good body will let you forget about your hair loss troubles, at least minimize them. Its better to be buzzcut/shaved with a nice body than fat and with hair. Fat and thinning hair aint cool either.
