Any Regrowth from Propecia? Any receeding hairline stopage?

I was just wondering if any of you fellows have had any actual hair regrowth from Propecia? I also wondered whether or not it has helped with a receeding hairline (thickness or regrowth)? All I see are pics of people with crown success.

I am only a little over 3 months in but I am definitely seeing regrowth in my hairline. I just got through a pretty massive shed, but there are little hairs sprouting up all over the place. Now we'll just have to see if it fills out.

Same here, while it's thinning out all over b/c of a shed, I still see smaller hairs where there weren't any before on the hairline. Hopefully once the shed fills in the whole thing will be better on the whole.

That stinks that you are experiencing shedding. Would you say that you are loosing more hair than you did prior to the medication? Also is it a big deal, because if your hair is thickening up (possibly even regrowing), does it show much?

It looks like a lot of people are saying "I lost hair but i have now hair beginning to grow back", and im happy for you and i hope those hair grow terminal, but i dont see that happenning to many guys..

During my shed my hairloss increased pretty noticeably. Then again, I count hairs... some people might not have noticed. My front is thinner, but slowly starting to thicken up again with the new hairs growing in. I can tell they're new since they're so short. I think once they start getting longer I'll be in good shape.

Been on propecia for 10 years before any major hair loss occurred. It's hard to tell what I would look like now if I hadn't, but I basically have a full head of hair. 10 years later though, still on the meds, I'm losing hair by the temples, my overall hairline has thinned as well as the crown in the past few months. Propecia probably slowed any hair loss and I definitely recommend using it, but it might not be permanent. I guess it depends on the person and their physiology as my dermatologist said. As for regrowth, my hair wasn't thin enough at the time for me to really know.... nor did I experience any shedding when I started. Again, I'd recommend it for sure.... as long as you don't experience any lewd side effects.

I see. Hopefully the thinning is maintained with you keeping up with th meds.

I read that there are some pretty nasty side effects, one of the only reasons I am still debating getting on it. I did hear that if you experience any sides...down there...that once you stop taking the drug the side effects subside. Any truth to that?

Like I wrote before, I was on finasteride for 6 years and maintained very well, but at year 6 it stopped working and I was very frusted and puzzled. I think it has to do with age and the incresead sensivity to DHT of those hairs. I was 30 when I strated finasteride and 36 when I switched to dutasteride. I am 40 now and very happy with the results from dutasteride. I hope that it does not "stop" working anytime soon...

In any case, I would strongly recommend you try 0.5 mg of dutasteride a day and stop using finasteride, as finasteride is just not strong enough anymore at your stage of hairloss.

About side effects, yes you might perhaps experience a loss of libido, although it might improve after a few months. I decided that I would rather loose some Libido than any Hair.
I always have some v**** (cheap generic) ready for those moments when Mr. Libido is not around, no big deal really.
Side effects persisting when you stop the drug is just a lie.

But of course once you start dutasteride it is going to be a life-long treatement, unless you want to become bald in a very quick way.

finasteride 6 1/2 months, havent lost any ground at this point since i started, had a shed i think, but now id say im probably slightly better off than when i started, which is good. Its only been 6.5 months though so if i get even more regrowth ill be pretty happy...im greedy though and am thinking of starting dutasteride too.

when i say dutasteride, i mean dutasteride. Which is brand named avodart. It is similar to propecia but blocks more dht type 2 and is supposed to work up to 30% better in some cases than propecia does.

Its fda approved for BPH but not for hair loss...yet. The trials are supposedly in stage 3 right now. However, enough research has been done by reputable sources which indicates that dutatseride is indeed more powerful.

However, many people are hesitant to take it because unlike propecia which blocks only dht type 2, it also blocks dht type 1, which is apparently found in the brain and skin...Still though, no serious side effects are likely to results and most of the sides reported are identical to that of propecia's. dutasteride also has a longer half life, which means it takes longer to get out of your body after youve stopped taking it, so if you get sides, you might have them for a few weeks or so even after you stop.

Its a judgement call, after reading a lot of testimonials i feel like its a pretty safe drug, it is fda approved and has been on the market for several years. So i may try it after 7 or 8 months on propecia

Thanks for the advice. I'm very nervous about using dutasteride. I've already experienced some decreased libido from finasteride, but part of that might just be time of year, stress and what not. The idea of using something that might decrease it any further along with some other weird side effects just doesn't sit well with me. I guess I have to look further into it before ruling it out.

Question.... where did you experience hair loss? Does it work at the hairline and the temples? Did hair actually grow back for you and/or miniaturized hairs became stronger and thicker or did you just stop losing?

I'm really hoping that HM becomes a reality soon, but I'm guessing I shouldn't hold my breath. Thanks again.
