I am wondering if anyone has only used topical spironolactone as an anti-androgen and has successfully maintain the hair they have? or at the very least, significantly slowed things down? I hear that the guy who runs this site has maintained for years on topical spironolactone, though not sure if its true. Thanks.

I've read a couple of stories here and there, and seen the study it improved their hair.

it really depends where. Temples for example are tough, even people on finasteride and minoxidil sometimes aren't able to maintain there. - I've seen a study where temples were improved however.

Personally, I'd use it 3 times a day if using spironolactone alone (When possible).

3 times a day? I've heard of people getting sides using it twice a day.

What sides?

I've not seen anyone report sides with topical spironolactone except one or two getting some wierd, slight chest pain when putting too much on.

Yea I believe Kiel was getting sides from putting it on too much.

Ah right yeh that's who I was talking about. I've not had any problems using it 3 times a day. I don't think anyone's reported problems with spironolactone in terms of it giving sides similar to if they'd taken it orally (Like you do with oral and topical finasteride)...whether it be studies or on the forums.

Topical spironolactone, no matter how much you use is very safe I think. Your biggest concern would be something minor like irritating your scalp a bit I think.
