concealers?

I've been around here for years (had to start a new name last year).

I've been losing hair for about 8 years. My hair is very blonde. I have terrible recession and thinning in the front. And a lot of thinning in the crown. For almost 2 years now I have become compeltely reliant on toppik (or nanogen). I grow my hair a little longer and push hair over the temples.

I ALWAYS have to have it in when I'm around people. I just look terrible without it. With toppik, most of the time I can create an illusion of a full head of hair.
I'm on finasteride, but I fear my hair will just get worse and I will be doomed. I don't know what to do.
I recently met the girl of my dreams and we have been dating a few months. I've gone to a great extent to conceal my loss and concealers from her. But, I know it won't last forever.

Anyone else in a similar boat? :(

Thinning Sucks - for real? Can you give me a little more detail? Isn't it a pain!? lol I hate when I convince myself that I have way more hair than I do for a few days and then see the horror. Tears me up...

Same here.

Brick, you're not alone. It can be a pain, but when you can still get it to look half-way decent, the alternative to not using them(in my case, looking like a freak with a strip of doll hair on my hairline) is a lot worse.

And when you can't get it to look half-way decent, there are excellent hairpieces you can get at do-it-yourself places like BA's Hair Apparent, Toplace and others, and you will be one step ahead because you will already be used to doing maintenance.

That's very true, Vinton. WHat stage is your hairloss in?

I've just been trying to keep that mentality, but sometimes it just brings me down way too much. Especially when I have those weeks where I just can't get my hair to look right or the concealers to set right.

Without the transplants in and amongst my front hairline, I would probably be a 5A(on the Norwood scale). With the transplants and Dermmatch and Toppik, I am easily a 2, with maybe a wee bit more recession of my temple points.

We all(even people who have all their hair) have bad hair days. Granted, it is a little more frustrating when you have to mess with concealers.

My deal is that I have very thick hair on the sides. There is just a strip through the middle that is very thin. But no part of my scalp is completely void of hair. I use hair-so-real and it works just fine. The plus is that it's only half as expensive as Toppik. For awhile I used the Prothik spray, but it made my hair very dull. Am I addicted to the concealer I use? Not really. If I don't have it on, I'll just use a bandana. That or I don't use it at all. It depends on where I'm going and who I'm going to be around.

Yeah but unless you can say that your happy to turn up for a day at work without concealers or covering up with anything else then you are dependant on it.

I farm and co-own a gym.
So when I go to work, I can either wear the concealer or not.
There are few times when I absolutely feel the need to put it on. If we're going out to dinner or a party, then I'll wear it for sure. The fact is that I use the concealer mainly for myself. Sometimes it just makes me feel better, but I seriously doubt anybody close to me really gives a damn about my hairloss.

I've lost 80% density according to Doctor..large crown area complately gone, heavy diffuse remaining. No way could I ever go out of house without it. It's just incredible what it can do with basicly nothing left. I even shocked the hair transplant Doctor!
