Anyone ever have any grain-like acne of their scalp?

Around the same time I started losing my hair, I also noticed little grain like acne things embedded in my scalp. They aren't flaky, they're dry and feel and look like a little grain of sand. I get them on my back too, but they're definitely not your run of the mill pimple. What freaks me out is I get them a lot where I'm losing my hair, and sometimes they take hairs along with them and you can see them at the root of the hair...

I think it might be sebum, but I've had these things for a while and I've always wondered in the back of my mind if they were causing my MPB… Anyone ever experience this? I feel like I'm alone at sea here because I can't find anything on what the hell might be wrong with my scalp
